Reviewed: Played on:Mar 10, 2020 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

-- Nice concrete tees for all holes, although they are on the small side.
-- Restroom on site.
-- Good use of the available land with a good mix of holes: Wooded, a couple with elevation and water now in play on at least 3 holes on the back nine (13-15).
-- Good course flow, which is good because the signs/markers, etc. are very limited.
-- Beginner friendly, except for water carries. There are bailout options, however.
-- Never crowded. In fact, I've only once seen another group playing in the dozens of times I've been.

Cons:

-- The new baskets on the back nine (added a dozen years ago but well after the course opened as a 9-holer) are Instep. The front 9 are Innova. In good shape, the Instep baskets don't catch well, and they are no longer in good shape.
-- Holes tend to be short. Only one is over 300 feet (No. 13 is 485 feet and listed as a par 5).
-- Cabins (modular buildings) have just been added near the 15 basket. They somewhat block/obstruct the safer (bailout) RHFH/LHBH throw to avoid the water.

Other Thoughts:

-- Someone has added yellow metal triangles to the tops of the Instep baskets on the back 9 (apparently to make them look more like the Innova baskets on the front nine). I appreciate the effort, but I would rather that time and money have gone into updating/maintaining the baskets themselves, which are in bad shape.
-- Pay to play. It's $3.25 per person for a day pass, so it's not crazy expensive.
-- Very little upkeep is done on the course, so limbs now obstruct several throws in ways they didn't a dozen years ago.

Quick 18 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:May 11, 2013 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

-Concrete tee pads
-Tee signs at every hole inclue: Hole#, Par & Distance to the Pin
-Convenient parking (will go into this a little more in the comments)
-Low traffic, but the course sees plenty of play and is well maintained
-Picnic tables at several holes (front 9)

Cons:

-The tee signs are not all facing the same way in relation to the pins. This can cause some confusion and maybe more than a little wasted time looking in the wrong direction for a pin
-I can't remember any benches (or picnic tables) at all on the back 9, and 1 trash can on hole 8 for the entire course (there are plenty of trash cans... just not ON the course)
-The pins on the back 9 (Instep) are too low and several are leaning; they look like a stiff breeze would knock them over
-The park is a little out of the way
-Bring your bug spray!

Other Thoughts:

I found myself in awe of the course's layout in relation to the parking... trivial, I know, but the little things count too. Whether you play the Front 9, Back 9 or the entire 18 holes, where you start AND finish are never more than 50 ft. from your vehicle.
This is a fun course. I'd recommend it to anyone, going to be in that area. If you are going through MS on I-20 take this little detour to Quitman, MS.

Not too shabby, nice lake views 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 20, 2012 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Concrete pads on every tee. Nice view of the lake, good amount of shade on 2/3 of the course. Good variety of open and tight fairways. Easy to navigate despite a couple of tee signs pointing in the wrong direction. A little elevation change here and there.

Cons:

Lots of short holes. Instep baskets on the back 9 aren't too bad but some players won't like them. Hole 14's tee box is in Hole 13's fairway.

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course. The back 9 baskets are single chain Insteps but baskets aren't that important a feature to me. Every hole has a sign with the distance, and there are plenty of arrow signs pointing to the next hole. Even though there are a lot of short holes you do have to execute a good shot to hit the line.

Archusa Water Park 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 12, 2011 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

Nice concrete tee's not broken and decent size, Well maintained and kept up esspecially considering not whole lot of people play on it, Great for beginner to intermediate players but more skilled players will also enjoy this course, Picinic tables right beside most of the tee's.

Cons:

A little hard to navigate the map seems to be totally useless and some of the signs face in the direction of the throw and some face the opposite direction.

Other Thoughts:

Great course to be so little known it would be great to shed some more light on this course with a fundraiser or possibly an AM Tourney other than the navigation problem the course plays down by the lake beautifully.

added new 9 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 22, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Nice concrete tees for all holes. there is a restroom right next to the course. With the new 9 added there is a good mix of holes with wooded, a couple with elevation and water now in play on at least 3 holes. the new 9 is very beautiful with some incredible views of the water. # 13 sits on a peninsula.Beginner friendly for the most part. Never crowded

Cons:

The new baskets are instep which takes some getting used to. One hole listed as a par 5 is really more like a 4. Too short to really challenge the best players. the new 9 flows well but there are no signs showing you where to go. the map is pretty useless. #12 basket was labeled as 14. the #14 tee is in the middle of #13 faiway. Only one set of tees.

Other Thoughts:

The new 9 is a great addition and adds variety. I am not sure how the instep baskets will hold up long term (one top was already broken off) but the course is very low traffic. there are a couple of forced carries that offer risk/reward but also have bailout areas. If you are a top player looking to be highly challenged look elsewhere but if you just want to enjoy a beautiful course and have some fun this could be your place. adding some alternate more difficult tees could help make it more challenging for the better players.

Alright-good practice 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 27, 2007 Played the course:never

Pros:

Several different flight paths, east to follow, and a good mix of shots.

Cons:

to short

Other Thoughts:

My home course (the closest one to Meridian) A nice course, its a little short but with the trees can be challenging. It allows me to practice and keep on my game.
