    Most Inexplicable Throw

I could not find it on cue, but somewhere out there is a video of a casual round (possibly with Feldberg? in Oregon?) that shows someone throwing 300+ down the fairway, and it skips right to their buddy who has already walked up the fairway. He is squatting at his bag, not aware the disc is...

Any South Carolina folks willing to chime in?

    South Carolina, January

Looking for some opinions beyond the reviews. I have played 199 courses (191 on DGCR, missing a few private/temp courses). I'm saving my milestone 200th course for something top-notch. I'll be in South Carolina in January and wondering what is the best and most memorable course in SC that is...

    Illinois/ Iowa Aug 5-14

I'd recommend adding Camden II (Milan IL), or swapping it for Eastern (Davenport IA)

Players that have maintained a 1000+ rating since the rating system started 1998

Darrell Nodland, currently 1039 rated, lowest rating in his career is 1012. He was registered for Selinske this year in MP50 but withdrew before the event. Maybe he will make an appearance in Selinske 2022. https://www.pdga.com/player/7225/history

    Mentally broken after first tourney

Others have sort of alluded to it, but I'll just come right out and emphasize it. Tournament play and casual rounds are really different kinds of experiences. People can enjoy both, but if they do, it's probably for different reasons. Some people prefer one or the other, nothing wrong with...

Review by IHearChains in course Devil's Glen

4.00 star(s) New layout in 2017, now 18 holes This course was expanded to 18 holes in 2017. It was previously a really fun 12 hole course, and the best features remain, plus the changes are all positives. Some new concrete teepads. The best thing about this course is the variety. Excellent use of elevation...

    Wet Shoes

It's hard to manage dew, it's a tough condition for even the best of shoes. The Goretex starts leaking before the rest of the shoe gets worn out. This problem is big if you are wearing waterproof shoes all the time, whether or not the waterproofing is needed. I solve this problem by cycling the...

    'Legendary' Players

Darrell Nodland, 50+, 1033 The guy barely plays, but would win the "obscure legend" category... most likely the top rated 50+ player ever, and maybe the highest win percentage ever (admittedly padded by playing obscure events). I finally got to play his Patterson Lake course this past summer...

Poll: How often do you wash your discs?

Early morning rounds with dew. After all that wiping, no need for further cleaning.

Review by IHearChains in course Patterson Lake DGC

4.00 star(s) Epic challenge - good quality Innova baskets, some holes with two, color-coded - two or more large high-quality concrete tees on most holes - several excellent designs of par 4 and par 5 multishot holes that force careful thinking about the shot-shape and positioning for approach - surprisingly...

HOD 5/22/2020: Sunset Park Hole #1 Washington, IA

Star Tern One of my all time favorite 9-hole courses! Recently became 18, but this site has not been updated. The original 9 was excellent. Especially signature hole 8 an outstanding top-of-the-world type drive with a gorgeous uphill low ceiling approach fairway.

Review by IHearChains in course Airborn Disc Golf - Timberwolf

4.50 star(s) Fantastic course with epic holes This course is part of a 2-course 36-hole complex built in a defunct ball golf course along the Mississippi River. The two courses have different color Prodigy baskets orange and yellow, to help navigation. Timberwolf uses the orange baskets, and is the tougher...

The two courses have different color Prodigy baskets orange and yellow, to help navigation. Lynx uses the yellow baskets, and is the...

    DG Sleeper Videos

If you want to see some old school disc golf videos from before Jomez and CCDG came on the scene, here are some YouTube channels to look up. They all have tons of material to browse. These were the days before commentary, so you get to hear disc sounds, player conversation, birds chirping, etc...

New "throw after OB" rule (from couple years)

This is correct. When you relocate the lie, you must mark the new lie too. I made that mistake once in a tourney. Marked 1m from OB as usual, announced I was using the optional relief, and then left the original marker at the 1m spot, assuming that cardmates could use that to eyeball whether my...

    Brodie Smith PDGA #128378

He said at the beginning that he didn't take pictures of the signs because the distances were suspect. I doubt if that hole was actually 370. Tough to tell from video, but I'd guess more like 300. Still good distance, considering it was on hyzer the whole way.

Critters on the course you ran into...

Rats with hooves. They are so common in Iowa City that you see more deer than squirrels. Sharpshooters were contracted to cull the city deer population so they don't die ugly from disease and starvation.

    SLIDING A DISC

Except if you pick up your hand just before release, then it is not a throw because you cannot propel the disc without being in contact with it. Not a good comparison at all. You are conflating "before release" with "at release", but they clearly have different meanings.
