In an effort to continue a tradition, the third-annual Kanawha Valley Ice Bowl (2012) has been registered with the national Ice Bowl (R) headquarters. Once again, our recipient is Manna Meal, Inc. of Charleston, a fine organization that devotes its efforts exclusively to feeding the hungry.
The event will once again be held at Little Creek Park in South Charleston on the second Saturday (11th) of February. Two 18-hole rounds will be played, singles in the morning and doubles in the afternoon, separated by a lunch break. If enough portable baskets can be rounded up, nine temporary holes will be installed yielding a true 18-hole course.
Some small, complimentary items will be provided for the first 40 registrants. There will be mulligans, an ace pool, closest-to-pin awards and other modest prizes to compete for. Efforts will be made to provide lunch during the break.
Participation in the Ice Bowl requires true sacrifice. You are being asked to spend your Saturday playing golf in awful weather, pay a $20 registration fee, donate food, and volunteer your time and talents to help the cause.
Please pre-register if you can, but tournament-day registration begins at 8am. Check the "Files" section of the course for the event flyer and registration form.
