Finally, after six long years of working with the city and trying to raise the funding to do it, we are almost there! We will soon have an 18-hole course in Anderson at Edgewater Park. It will be a Rec/Int/Adv level course, each hole will have a Red and Blue concrete tee-pad, and also A and B pin locations. The site is alongside White River, has lots of huge cottonwoods, sycamores and other mature trees, lots of grass and a large levee which will play on several holes. Formal approval for the project will be at the Park Board meeting on Oct 20th. The city is putting up no money, but they are making the signs and providing labor and equipment. We do have some significant sponsorship money already lined up, but we do need more. So we are still looking for hole sponsors. Construction could possibly start yet this year, depending on weather. :hfive:

Awesome! I remember you once were planning a 9 hole in Anderson at another park. Were those plans scrapped?

Good work!

As always, appreciate the new IN course updates!

Yes. Plans for the course at General Polaski Park have been canceled. This really is a better site, it allows a complete, multi tee and multi pin, 18-hole layout.

So we had a meeting with the Park Board yesterday. They do like the idea of a disc golf course at this location, but we need to get a question cleared up with the US Army Corps of Engineers about tee-pads and baskets on the levee. Any Corps engineers out there?

OK, we have some paper work to fill out... and about 90 days or so for the Corps to do their stuff, but we are still a go! :hfive:

So after many starts and stops over the last seven years or so.... There will be a course in Anderson, IN soon at Edgewater Park! We have final approval for the design from the US Army Corps of Engineers, approval from the City to build it, and the funding in place by private sponsorships. There have already been about 20 trees planted to enhance the layout, which will liberally use the large levee (think Morse Beach on steroids) in the park, as well as some huge mature trees and plenty of room to "pump, you up". I can't wait to get this one in the ground this spring!

Tie up the thread...

After about 8 years of efforts by many, many people, the course in Anderson is in and playing great! Look for the listing under Sanders Memorial, at Edgewater Park. It's a fun course, give it a visit!
