Hey everyone! My buds and I are going on a trip around memorial day and we are thinking of going to St. Louis, MO given nice weather. If weather looks bad we have a back up of Pittsburg.

Below I have listed courses we have scouted out. We like challenges, the best the area has to offer, as well as the weird and fun. Feel free to take a look below and let us know what you think!

We also need suggestions for this to do on our down time away from the courses. This can be anything from alcohol to game spots to fun/unique spots around town. If you have a favorite food spot as well give it a shout out! Any and all suggestions are helpful here!

Thank you in advance!:popcorn::thmbup: :D

Last year, my Pittsburgh DG road trip included Knob Hill, Deer Lakes, Moraine & The Black Course as well as Idlewild and Mt. Airy.

You will not be disappointed at any of those Pittsburgh area courses. I would be happy to play any of them again in a heartbeat!

FWIW, your St. Louis list looks like a lot of fun too.

I haven't played it yet, but I've heard Foundation Park in Centrailia, IL is a must play if you're in the area. All the courses you have listed are pretty good.

If you come to Pittsburgh, might as well hit up Slippery Rock University, was one of the Worlds courses last year..

Another recommendation is Linbrook Park..couple minutes from Knob Hill, only 9 holes, but an awesome/challenging course

I'm just a short drive from Indian Camp Creek!
If you guys decide to head out that way, I'd love to play with you.

FWIW, if it came down between Pittsburgh and St. Louis for me I'd pick Pittsburgh 10/10 times assuming the weather is good at both places. St. Louis is fun but man, Pittsburgh is just great quality golf.

This man speaks the truth :hfive:

Just a heads up but crystal city underground is shut down til further notice due to flooding ( has been for a few months) so would definitely have a back up course planned

I'd bump out Crystal City for the above reason and add in either Fort Zumwalt or Logan University

You'll have to go to the Gateway Factory while there, and try to make time took hook up with JCass, myself or others. If you like beer St. Louis wins (sorry Pittsburgh). We do also have the Cardinals, and if you want to be nerdy one of the better (and free Zoos in the country).

Also I highly suggest checking the City Museum out one night. It has a bar and is an adult crazy playground on Fridays and Saturdays late.

As far as breweries of course you should take the free Budweiser tour, Schlafly also has a free tour, and you can hit up a myraid of other breweries. Urban Chestnut being my favorite.

Voodoo Brewing in Pittsburgh will give any brewery a run for their money.

The food & beer combination at North Country Brewing in Slippery Rock is fantastic. Plus they support disc golf.

I get to St. Louis every couple of years. Add Logan and Centralia if you can; along with Sioux Passage; I would say these two are the best in the area. Also, would throw in Rock Spring Park (though I would suggest trying to find a local to play with; as tees; especially the longs can be a little difficult to find). Only been to the Pittsburgh area a couple of times, though once was the year before last. I think the top of the line courses in Pitt. are better than St. Louis, if you want epic. (Sorry, my St. Louis brothers!) :) I would say Sioux Passage and Centralia and kind of Logan, are in the epic category though.

I'll second this, Linbrook is very good for only 9 holes. Pittsburgh golf is great! (I'm 5 hrs away but stop there at least once a year).

If I were you, I'd much rather drive to Peoria il than st Louis to play dg. It is closer to your area and has better courses. This is coming from someone who lives between the 2 locations

Have made 3 DG road trips to St. Louis from KC over the past 5 years. Love the courses but the traffic is harsh as is in any large metro. The posse and I mostly seek out moderately to open wooded courses and St. Louis has some good ones.

Sioux Passage original is bomb town and one of the best maintained courses I have ever played. If you love tearing up the sky this is the place.

Jefferson Barracks is another favorite. Though more wooded than Sioux Passage still many holes to let it rip. Jefferson Barracks is as fun to play as Waterworks Park in KC, IMO.

One not on your list Creve Coeur Lake Park is obscene when it comes to length. Over 400ft a hole average plays through mostly open wooded mature trees. Course maintenance being the biggest con of this course. But definitely a epic bomber course.

Concerning down time invest in glow lights and and the only down time you will have is sleeping.

Best of luck

Living in Pittsburgh, I can only say the best things about the city. Disc golf is great, food is great, everything is great. I couldn't recommend coming up here enough. After knob, Pirmanti Brothers is 5 minutes away. Great sandwiches and a Pittsburgh classic. And I second the north country brewery restaurant after slippery rock. You can never get bored in Pittsburgh.

Uh oh. This may change some things, any word on its opening? Is it a long term closure?

It really seems to be has been shut down for 4 months now and no updates at all from owner so things aren't looking good. It was COMPLETELY flooded from what I understand they couldn't even get in to survey the damage for weeks.
