Throw Pink! Paducah is a yearly disc golf event raising funds for the fight against breast cancer, as well as growing the sport of disc golf, particularly among women and children. This year, our donation will go towards a state of the art, clearer 3D mammography machine. In the happy event they reach their fundraising goal for that before our event, we will be supporting a possible wig room, a pillow room and/or spa services for local breast cancer patients.
Besides being a fun disc golf event that provides a nurturing environment for women (as well as men and children) (with awesome prizes) to get involved in the sport, Throw Pink! Paducah makes a real difference in our community. Last year, we were second in the nation for Throw Pink fundraising with $2400. Our donation helped fund Lourdes Women's Services' Beads of Courage program. This is a program where breast cancer patients get beads for every appointment, every needle prick, every treatment. These are made into a necklace that represents in a physical way each woman's strength and dignity.
This year, my goal is to raise the most money in the nation for Throw Pink events. A lot of this money will come from players' packs, which are similar to last year. We are once again asking "competitive" players to add $5 to their entry fee, which will be dispensed as prize money. We are unable to select individual discs this year due to time and money constraints, but I still think we offer great players' pack options:
$10 = DX disc, mini disc, sticker, $5 donation to Lourdes Women's Services
$20 = T-Shirt, mini, sticker, $10 donation to Lourdes Women's Services
$30 = T-Shirt, Champion disc, mini, sticker, $15 donation to Lourdes Women's Services
New this year:
$50 = T-Shirt, Champion disc, mini, sticker, gift bag, Whale Sac (similar to a birdie bag to keep your hands dry), $25 donation to Lourdes Women's Services
There is an option on the registration page to get your pack shipped to you for an extra $5, and you can also forgo the pack completely and have all your money go to the donation.
