FLC? What did LC ever do to you?

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Mar 13, 2021 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The Flexible Learning Center is home to a three basket setup. So, there's that.
- Immediate disclaimer. THIS IS A PRACTICE AREA. If you know, you know.
- Basic setup for field work. You have about 350 feet of open field on the side of the building where two baskets are located, and a little less than that on the backside where the third basket is located. Fields are wide open, but the rough/underbrush seems thick if you get offline.
- Baskets are in decent shape. Not a lot of use with them I'd imagine.
- Close to other courses. According to the course map there are 10 other courses within 5 miles of this place. Granted, most are basic nine-hole school courses. But still. Variety.
- Can get in a quick throw to all baskets pretty fast. I picked an arbitrary spot for the first basket, then played basket to basket. Turned around and played back again. Knocked out six 'holes' in 10 minutes.
- One of the baskets is easy to spot from 4 lane road (Main Street). That also means you get the lovely sound of traffic when throwing to that same basket.

Cons:

Not really accessible/convenient for anyone. It's not close to any neighborhoods. It's not available during school hours. And it's not a true course. This is driving to a school across town just to shoot at a different basket. Hint: it's not worth it.
- No signage, markers, or tee signs. It really is three separate baskets. If you try to create a layout, you're just wasting your time.
- Each basket is in an open area with zero obstacles. Sure, you can throw towards each one, but it's one 200 foot, wide-open approach shot after another.
- Building hosts several different schools from alternative schools to online campuses (campi?). If you've been 'dismissed' from your school, you go here. I'm guessing when certain herbal remedies were more frowned upon back in the day, all the stereotypical disc golfers got sent here.

Other Thoughts:

Three baskets in a field. Maybe they get used. Maybe they don't But, they do exist.
- I'm curious beyond curious how a group of out of staters were the ones to know about this course. I've never been able to see it listed online anywhere. Although, I have discovered other non-accessible courses within the city. Barring making several wrong turns, this isn't necessarily on the way to anywhere. So, I'm guessing it was accidentally discovered.
- You can see two of the three baskets using Google StreetView. Congrats! If you can visualize throwing 200 foot shots in an open field, you've just played the FLC.
- Courses like this shouldn't be rated. Giving it a zero doesn't do any good. But, the course is the worst of the worst. Compared to all 425+ disc golf locales I've played, this is in the bottom 10 - 15.
- For baggers only. Or, if you have 5 minutes to spare.
