The problem with in game interviews is the player only gives empty, cliche answers.
Q. What is it going to take to win today?
A. "I'm going to stick to my gameplan, avoid mistakes, stay focused, blah, blah, blah."
I mean that type of answer is accurate, but it doesn't really give us anything.
My complaint with watching tournaments played on these long, mostly open courses is that it's impossible to get a sense of direction. Very often on tee shots and long 2nd shots the viewer doesn't know if it's a good shot or not.
Give me a wooded course anyday.
Great finish for Handley for the win!
I hope this gives her the boost of confidence she needs to be a regular winner.
They showed a stat that in the previous 14 rounds where she held the lead her average round rating was 926 - that's 50 below her rating.
What are we going to see out of Handley for the final round?
It feels like she's been in this position 9 or 10 times before with just one win to show for it and mostly very bad final rounds.
She has good final rounds when she is well behind, but not so much when she is in the lead or even in the hunt.
If she figures out how to play from the lead she will be a consistant winner.
After watching most of round 3 I would say there is a lot of shot variety. Many of the tee shots and approach shots require an gap hits.
While some holes only have 10-15 trees, the trees are gigantic.
Beautiful setting, but not my preference for a disc golf course.
Paige Pierce on the lead card for Saturday!
She doesn't look like she did 5 years ago, but she is playing a lot better than she has lately.
Incredible round by Sofia Donnecke putting her in a tie for the lead. This is her 2nd pro tour event. It's great to see a new face doing well. Let's see...
What percentage of courses have "quality" baskets? I would guess it's over 95%.
I would define a "quality basket" as any recognized brand basket, less than 20? years old and is not damaged.
I've played +100 courses and I can only remember only 3 or 4 having terrible baskets.
UDisc probably...
I think the biggest drop/gain will be in the 20 foot range so nothing too crazy.
I ended up finding a guy who has an older phone (Kyrocera?) with a built in altimeter. I tested it a bit and it seemed to be quite accurate.
...and another final round dud by Handley. I really want to see her do good, but she just folds time after time on the last day. Grrrrrrrrr!
Paige Pierce on the other hand looked like the old Paige, hole 14 not withstanding. She looked like she was having fun again.
What I meant was, I don't know how 3 players were sure that Weatherman's disc was clearly out of bounds.
If even 1 of the players weren't sure then she should have given Weatherman the benefit of the doubt and called it in bounds.
