[Discraft] Comet love?

The new ones really are that much more stable.
They ended up bumping my Buzzzes out for the most part.

I can use them as max weight training discs because they still seem to be understable enough to do almost everything with them, but the older ones I've thrown definitely seem less stable even if they're in mint or close to mint condition.

I played Maple Hill last week and lost one of my beloved broken in KC Pro rocs... along with about 4 other discs in the numerous water carry holes.

It was a great time, and about 1000ft away is Marshalls street disc golf store/pyramids dg course so we went over and perused...

where i found some tasty factory second Comets!

man these comets fly just like my KC pro rocs only with a little more glide. this trip to maple hill kind of renewed my love of terns and comets. I got the terns to make those long water carry holes and save my money destroyers but didn't realize that i also could lose my beloved seasoned KC pro rocs.

so for this next season i think i'll bag z comets for my seasoned KC pro roc shots. hell i can even sidearm these z comets because they actually seem a little flatter than my rocs.

Hmmmm...wha...what? Oh, present! Here sir!
I got mine off a charity fundraiser, it was handy to have a solid glow midrange. I found the svea really liked to push straight, more straight stall action and less chance to work fine angles. I got more of a single turn vibe as compared to the comet straight/or S, overall I would throw it and just think "thats not a comet". It just didn't do as much but man it glowed nice!!!!

I guess I've never thought of the Comet as a similar slot/disc to a beat in KC but the more I think about it, this makes a lot of sense. I'll probably always keep a thrashed DX Roc in the bag for big turning shots, but the Comet will probably be a workhorse for me.

Quick question.. I was considering buying a 2022 metallic Z but I thought screw it I got a bunch of 21 MJ metallic and i got a few i havent thrown.

Which one is better? Rubber blend or the MJ jawbreaker? Should I just pull out the elite X's to scratch the itch?

Meh screwyall I went with this, left the others in the vault... sweet and simple ESP and another ADAM elite X. Man there's nothing like the old x.

X GON' GIVE IT TO YA!!!!...

I've been trying to throw comets a lot more. Picked up a really cool ledgestone 2022 Z Swirl with the T-Rex stamp on it that flies laser straight.

I picked up a max weight regular Z one with a New Orleans Saints dye from some kids at a park by my house that flies a little different.

Can anyone report back on how they like it? I've never tried a Jawbreaker.

Since I'm suddenly and happily back to "all Comets all the time," hivemind question:

what is currently the most stable Comet one can currently buy? I lost one that was so surprisingly OS (for a Comet) I swear it was like a 4 5 0 2. It was even "chunkier" and domier and felt stiffer than other Zs I'd tried. I'm trying to cover as many shots with Comets as I can so I'd prefer to replace that baddie.

For me? It's been mostly weight+dome. And I haven't seen many flat-top heavy weight Z Comets. So usually just buying them by scaled weight leads to a pretty stable comet. Maybe not 4 5 0 2 though...

The Jawbreaker one I threw today is probably the most stable Comet I own. I have a couple somewhat flat, regular production Z ones that are max weight, that I was using for headwinds and spike hyzers and shots where I absolutely needed to fade - and the Jawbreaker Z FLX have just kicked those out of that slot for now. Definitely along the lines of the 4 5 0 2 you're looking for, when new.

There are a lot more Comets being run lately with the old school dome, as opposed to the more modern flat shape. I don't find them more stable than the flatter ones, per se - because I've had such stable flat ones. I prefer the old school shape, because it sits better in my hand, and I feel like I can get better control of them. I've seen them in ESP Sparkle, regular Z, and all the Jawbreaker Z FLX ones I've gotten. I just wish I could get that shape in a light weight one, so I don't have to rely so heavily on my old LE ESP and early run Z ones...

The 2023 Z Swirl MJ's are the most stable I've thrown of the recent and available runs. I liked them so much I might have bought a lifetime supply of them. They're still available on the ledgestone shop site.

I've yet to throw these new jawbreaker Comets. I'm super stoked to throw them now though hearing that they're stable/overstable! I put two of them along with 8 other comets in a ten disc bag to take to our new putter course in town. The longest hole is 240 and there's a large soccer field near the parking lot too, perfect Comet test course.

I cycle 2 of the Z Swirl ones with the dinosaur stamp. The JBZFLX one I threw yesterday was noticably more overstable. I'm hoping the modern FLX blends beat in as quickly as the old ones, because the feel is so nice...

Subjectively the one "4 5 0 2" I had was on the domey side and it felt noticeably different in my hand. Might have also influenced how I was throwing it a bit.

I'm interested in this Jawbreaker because I've never actually thrown that plastic.

I guess from a lot of field testing all the Big Z's from the last year are two are very similar but still like to turn more than that chonky one did. They do all tend to be more like fairway driver flat, at least from the runs I bought most of them at the time.

I had a fairly stable one from 2022 I think that I lost. This also sounds like a good option. My guess is that my most stable current Big Z is close to my old MJ but not quite that weird 4 5 0 2 one.

Will be curious about your experience with how Jawbreaker and FLX beat in. I know no disc lasts forever but I did enjoy how long my most abused Big Z held onto its stability whereas now it's my second fastest turning Comet. Still getting thrown all the time but part of what got me interested in trying out the more "beefy" side of the Comet spectrum again.

I'm actually going to have to throw the new Jawbreaker one more than I would for it's stability. I'm hoping it reaches a point like the old ESP FLX did, where it just breaks, and becomes flippy. As is, it's about as stable as the old Ron Russel Comets, with a bit more glide. I'll definitely post updates over time...
