Nine Holes @ Auburn Park

Reviewed: Played on:May 29, 2024 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

A course in Auburn (Nearest course is 15 minutes away)

New Dynamic Veteran baskets

Good use of the small hill that the course plays around/on/over

Cons:

Natural tees. There are markers for the sides of the tee boxes.

No signage. Navigation might be an issue without a course map.

If the course would be crowded (which I haven't seen before) there would be definite danger from throwers on other holes. If you throw directly at the basket on hole 8, you'll be throwing over the tee pad for hole 5, which is hidden behind the hill. (There might be a mando on hole 8, but because of no signage, I don't know)

Several holes play across the walking path that goes through the course

Most of the holes don't have much in the way to force a shot shape. There are quite a few young trees though, which will force lines much more in the future.

Other Thoughts:

This short 9-hole course has been long awaited by disc golfers in the Auburn/Russellville area. Before this course was installed, the closest courses were in Bowling Green or Franklin, both a good drive for dgers in the area. Finally we have a course close enough to just swing by for a short round or even play over lunch break.

The average hole length at this course is about 260'. I've birdied every hole using only my Classic Aviar. It is a great course for a quick one or two-disc round.

The disc golf course in Auburn Park seems to be doing a decent job at what it was designed for. I have yet to see more than three groups on the course at one time. Care must be exercised when playing with other groups on the course because of how close some of the tee pads are to the preceding baskets.
