Pros:
The majority of the fairways are fair. The new tee boxes are great. The property is nice.
Given the limited space the front nine is OK and the back nine is good. The back nine is why I will return at some point (17,18 need some work).
There are some really good holes on the back, I wish the entire course resembled the back.
14 good holes are better than 11 meh and 7 good holes.
Cons:
The front nine is a pitch and putt. 180-220 with some funky lines make the front nine a birdie fest, but most of the line are not golf lines. The lack of distance is countered with sharp turns at the basket.
MachV baskets - It's nice to have 18 real baskets, but MachVs are awful
PayForPlay - With so many good courses in CT, it is hard to justify paying to play here
Other Thoughts:
It is fantastic that there is a course in this part of the state. Building a course with fairways, tee boxes and real baskets is not an easy feat, so I applaud the folks who made this happen. I hate to be critical, but the reality is that the front nine is tragically short. The holes aren't even beginner friendly short. 170-200 and tucking the pin behind trees on a non DG line is not fun for anyone. That being said, well done on the back nine. 10-16 are fun golf holes. Elevation, distance, fairways, decent greens, golf shots...a good 7 hole run. 17 could use some clean up and tree removal and 18 finishes in the opposite direction the parking lot...not an ideal end to a good back nine.
