Old school+new school= Fun course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 28, 2016 Played the course:once

Pros:

Great short variance on this course with short, moderate, longer holes.
Open park style holes and very technical holes here on this course.
A lot of risk reward shots especially on the wooded holes. You will have to be accurate, and in some cases lucky, in order to score well.
Very challenging lines to be shaped here. You will need a good short game for sure.
Has a ton of potential to beat in nicely and will over time.
Didn't really feel like this course has a lot of "poke and pray" holes and there are lines you just have to be accurate.
Good cover for windy days on about 2/3 of the course.
Good mix of dog leg L/R holes and a couple of holes that used an elevated tee or elevated basket.
A good risk reward type of course depending on how aggressive you want to be.

Cons:

No signage for the wooded holes and the signage that is there is from the old course, and the number don't match.
No tee pads for the wooded holes. Most times of the year this will be fine but they are starting to rut a bit and grip will most likely be difficult when it is wet.
Some holes still have sapling/tree stumps that aren't flush with the ground causing potential tripping hazards. Please pay attention to where you are walking.
No numbers on the baskets, which would help with navigation issues, IMO.
A bit hard to follow at times so I would suggest having access to a map either digitally or old school paper.

Other Thoughts:

Overall this is a fun course that will test all aspects of your game. You will need to have a short memory if you don't execute your shots and hit your lines.
This is a course that will make your short game improve and the quality of golf here is excellent.
With improvements to signage, tees, and general navigation issues this will only improve this course that much more.
As it is, the golfing is still quality and fun so it will get a respectable 3.5 rating from me. This course will only play tougher in the summer months so be prepared. If you like a course that will make you think and help you to improve all aspects of your game then this is a course for you. Good news is there is another course to the south so you can make a day of it and play 2 great OKC metro courses.
Must play if you are in the OKC area.

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 23, 2016 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Very technical great use of trees
Nice change from the original layout and relieves course congestion
Multiple shot options
What you do after your tee off will determine your score

Cons:

Tee pads need to be established. Need to be level and consistent
No signage. Impossible to follow without a local
Poison Ivy is insane, my buddies got it so bad from here

Other Thoughts:

This has a ton of potential. Keep the jerks from tearing everything up and this course is gonna elevate everyone's game.

Something new for OKC 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 25, 2016 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

The addition of these holes does, and will in the future divide the existing 18 hole course into two 18 hole courses which will alleviate some backups and crowding as people become aware of the changes. OKC DGA installed 18 new discatcher baskets on the new holes. The new holes are tighter, more touch, technical holes. Most are 300' or less, but much more wooded lines.

Cons:

The new holes still have natural tees with plans for concrete. It would be less confusing if all of the innova baskets were on one course and all DGA on the other. As of now, it's a mix of baskets between the old existing holes and the new ones. They've just made these holes playable, so the baskets may be moved eventually. There is a little poison ivy off of the fairways, so if you're sensitive dress accordingly.

Other Thoughts:

11 of the new holes start on the west side of the parking lot. After you play them, play original holes 1, 2, & 16 on the island. After 16, there are two more long, tight holes in the woods behind the porta potty. After you play those two, head back to the island and play origional 17 & 18.
