Pros:
*NOTE* As noted by Surge5 in his review below from Sep of 2022, When I visited during Masters Worlds now in 2024 this course remains partially unplayable, Holes 1, 2, and 15-18 were all completely removed due to construction on the front of the middle school, with multiple other holes either missing a tee sign, tee pad, basket or some combination of those. The holes I managed to play were a combination of the short and long layout depending on which version still existed.
WHAT TO EXPECT: Crammed mostly open course with a few trees to add shape to holes as it winds around the middle school complex of buildings and athletic fields. Beginner friendly short layout with a slightly more challenging long layout offered.
AMENITIES: There were no bathrooms available, though you are very close areas that offer them (several resturaunts, Wal-Mart, and a couple gas stations all within a few blocks). No benches, water stations, shady spots to rest outside of the sports fields structures.
TEES/SIGNAGE/BASKETS: Initial design has two natural grass "tees" that are only indicated by a small printer paper sized tee sign. (multiple missing because of construction). Though small and very difficult to locate because of all the other school related and road signs in the area, the tee signs were well done for what they were with full color maps of holes. Baskets were older but still in good condition white Patriot baskets.
DESIGN: Taking into account the missing holes, the short layout seems targeted at beginners and very low distance players with multiple ace runs and one angle hyzer lines. The long layout is mostly longer versions of the same holes but a few have some added challenge. You can pretty much see the basket from every tee and see the intended line to get there. Nothing overly dramatic or difficult in the course design and not something that would challenge even the modest rec level am.
EXTRAS: Soccer fields on site do offer a long, flat, open place to warm up in a relatively secluded location if you wanted to stop by before heading to a tournament round at Jones or Champions Landing.
Cons:
WALKING TRAIL/ROAD: The original design has no less than half the holes throwing directly over or straight down a well travelled walking trail. I played early on a Saturday morning and encountered quite a few joggers and dog walkers. Hole #13 plays directly over an entrance road to the parking lot and Hole #14 is a forced hyzer out over and down the actual main road.
VEGETATION: There are a couple switch back holes that are supposed to throw "through" a tree line (like Hole #15). The old gap, or intended gap, is completely gone now. Your only hope is to throw an overhand shot over the trees. I did, walked all the way around to find that the basket was gone. Fun times.
NAVIGATION: Apart from most of the course missing items needed to play it, Navigation was NOT easy even with U-Disc GPS. The course flow switched back on itself a few times and you even had to walk back down a few fairways you just played in order to play the next hole.
CONSTRUCTION: I had hoped after construction of the middle school had completed that this course would get redesigned or moved as there is still quite a bit of available space, but 2 years later, this course is still in the same un-repaired state it was at the time of the last review.
Other Thoughts:
This probably at one time was an excellent place to introduce beginners and middle schoolers to the game, especially if the phys-ed program offered a course on disc golf. I do understand that in a town with disc golf courses on literally every free blade of grass in the city, this course might not be high on the priority list to breathe life back into. And with the course being a very simple layout, with a lot of the same shots, and the crowded nature of the fields and trails, I can see why no one is in a rush to redesign it. This course is nothing more than a warm up spot or a personal torture method for those who like courses in neat coherent order. I would avoid even if staying in the area.
