Pros:
The Yellow Falling Creek Disc Golf Course is really the main one here . Some good amenities are here . First , there is a lot of parking space . Park as close to the barn as you can . Second , there is a large kiosk with map near hole #1 to help navigate you ( print the map , anyway ) . There is a nice bathroom before you descend to the course and even a place to fill your water bottle . Nice Stone benches throughout different areas of the course . Nice touch . Tee pads are wood lined decorative pavers , about 3 1/2 X 10 ? I hear they get slick after a rain or early morning but I never slipped during my round . They look nice . The signage is good , with pin placements and distance and par + hole number and flight path . The baskets are yellow banded Discatchers , in good shape . They spray painted the bottom rung of the baskets to point you to the next tee . I don't know why more course use this procedure . It can help so much with navigation .
The first few holes start out in the open . Your first hole throws downhill to a basket under a tree and flanked by a group of rocks . You have to turn to your right to play hole #2 It follows a semi circle around with some clever pin placements for the first 8 holes . The next holes are not woods , but not open either . A good mixture of right/left and up down holes for you , along with tunnel shots and creek throws ( not deep ) . The course seems popular with the locals . Not less that 6 tees being used at once . It's not overly long or tight , and might bore some of the better area players unless they are practicing specifics . But the all of the rest , it's blending of unique shots raises the fun factor here .
There are some fun holes here . #4 comes from teeing off on the edge of the woods to splitting some trees to the hole , about 435' and a little uphill . #9 is a putter run downhill to an opening just over a creek bed . #5 has a low canopied row of trees all in a line alongside the fairway to the basket on the other side . 10 goes uphill to a doorway to the basket sitting in the woods . 17 goes downhill into a doorway with a creek over it . If you reach the other side clean , then you have to hyzer into the woods about 50' to a well protected basket .There are also 2 extra holes after leaving the woods , making a total of 20 . 19 is a long uphill drive with trees to make you shoot low . You have to walk back and to your left a ways to 20 , which is an open enough 240' throw with a backstop behind it . Some wildlife here . Saw deer , some squirrels and rabbits . This course has a good design with fun in mind . Disc Risk : low to moderate . The park is weel cared for , well mowed , and the creek is low . Signature hole #18 downhill to the woods ( 355') .I finished this part of the course in about and hour and 10 minutes . Figure a group of 4 maybe 2:20 .
Cons:
Dual tees in usage . All 18 of the first tees are used for both courses . There may be a wait on a busy day . Previous viewers say to exercise caution when throwing from the pavers when wet . If so , throw from the grass to be safe . Bugs can be bad here . Spray , then check for tick some time after the round . There may be lack of challenge from the pros or tournament tested , but I think there are holes here that they ,may like .
Other Thoughts:
Do not look for the so called split off of holes after #9 . When I played , and I was with one of the course builders , he said that they combined the back 9 tees with the alternate baskets . So you will share the same pavers with all first 18 holes . He also told me that the park was going to pull the red baskets in the future . This resembles some course layouts with the multiple pins that I played in the Orlando area , except they count the course as just one . But it makes this course stand out with all of the other courses in the area and will keep the players here longer , because hole locations vary from pin to pin . I was here for 2 1/2 hours total and glad I played both courses . If you enjyed it , make sure you email the park board and tell them . My Recommendation A good course to spend your part of the day playing . A little too much for dates or families , but just right for the locals , newbies , enthusiasts , course baggers , ( 2 for 1 ) intermediates and even some good holes for the pros to work on their game . PLAY IT !!!
