A (Five) Stones Throw Away

Pros:
Five Stones Church's course leaves a lot to be desired. There's a back 9 in the works. Maybe it'll resemble the first 4 holes, and not the next 5.
- First four holes are in the open. Two of these holes are over typically empty retention ponds and one is a blind dogleg. This is the fun portion.
- The wooded holes have some interesting angles, lines, and varying degrees of cleared-out fairways.
- Course is isolated from the rest of the church campus. You shouldn't have to worry about other people being in the way.
- This is mostly a mid-range course. Throwing a lot of mids and putters is all that's needed. That, and some creative shot making for the woods.
- You can see some of the sleeves and tee markers for the back nine holes. They seem like they'll be playing in portions of the two fields in the front of the property.

Cons:
It would be nice if the wooded fairways were cleared out more. How are you supposed to be approaching the baskets off the tees with some of these bends and curves in the fairways?
- Baskets are all portable. They don't grab well.
- Tee markers are pink flags. I had a lot of fun time trying to find all 9. It took more time finding the tees and identifying the fairways than it took to play. Call it a labor of love. Or just a bad case of OCD.
- This was perfectly enjoyable for what it is. I'll look forward to checking out the 18-hole version of this course.
- Natural tee pads. They are what they are.
- No course map. No next hole signs. No navigational assistance. For those less navigationally skilled, good luck playing here.
- No amenities for players.

Other Thoughts:
Five Stones could, and should, be a fun, short-length 18-holer. Please, just take down a couple more trees in the woods.
- A 3600-4200-foot 18-hole layout can be a fun layout. Look at Eager Beaver. Take advantage of the land you have and go with it.
- I do not know if this course is open to the public. I knew about it and played. Hence the reason it's going to stay listed as practice. If you want to find out about this course, you can do the legwork.
- #2 – 4 were fun holes. #6 and 8 were the best of the wooded holes. That's mainly due to these being the most natural of the fairways.
- This was perfectly enjoyable for what it is. I'll look forward to checking out the 18-hole version of this course.
