Pros:
-Concrete tee pads.
-Multiple pin locations.
-22 individual holes that can be played.
-Well kept park
-Plenty of trash receptacles.
Cons:
-Difficult to navigate without a map.
-Difficult to know which pin is in use.
-There is very little real risk on the course.
-RHBH dominant course, but there was at least some technical challenge and relief for lefties.
Other Thoughts:
I had a great round at this course (for me.) It is always nice to try somewhere new, and this course was good for a stress free round where you can stretch out your driving arm a little.
Before I get into this, I sometimes dwell on what can be improved. I want to repeat that this was a fun place to play in case I get too negative.
Navigation for non-locals is difficult. You can see multiple goals and tee boxes, and while some did make sense, others did not. Having a map on hand was critical. Beware of hole 6B. It has been wedged between 6 and 7, and it threw me for a loop for a few minutes.
The course is placed in a city park, and it tries to use what is available for obstacles. There just isn't too much available. The water holes are half full at best and empty in many cases. The trees that are there are used, but it is very clear underneath them. Some of the drives were technical, but recovery was a breeze for errant throws.
I loved that there were multiple pin locations, but there was little chance an out-of-towner like myself would know what pin location was in use by using the low detail tee box graphics. I was lucky to have my range finder, or else I would have totally been off on distances. The tee signs had all the lengths there, but there were 5 different distances written on some of the tee signs so it was hard to discern which was in play.
The current pin location was hard to find on Hole 9 because it was tucked behind a huge tree. I almost threw to the wrong goal as a result. I had trouble finding goals on other holes as well. Having a map helped here and it can be figured out.
Overall, I give this course a 3. It could go to a 3.5 or even maybe a 4 if the issues above were corrected, but courses do not need to be 5 stars to be fun. I definitely recommend stopping to play if you are passing through, but bring a map.
