99 Problems, But The Chains Aren't One. 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 28, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

(0.442 Rating) A butchered layout.
- CHAINS - DISCatcher baskets, which is always a great sign of things to come for courses cause you know some money was invested!.......... Crickets.

Cons:

Being here.
- CONSTRUCTION - Driving into the course and trying to find (1) was a nightmare. Construction at the high school has enveloped a large chunk of the campus. After playing some safari golf between a few baskets I found a pile of 4 baskets and 3 tee signs. After this point, I got on track and played a modified hole 4 and a correct string of holes between holes (5) and (8).
- LACK OF CHALLENGE -Of what I did play correctly, the challenge was disappointing being all distance. The only obstacle was the building near basket (5) and some fringe tall grasses that only came into play on (4) and (5). I really can't speak much for the removed holes, but I saw them on Google Earth and they were also open field shots. At best the difficulty may be Novice level.
- MULTI USE HAZARDS - Plays around a running track.
- OVERGROWTH - Head tall grasses around holes (4) and (5) that would be a nightmare to go into.
- NAVIGATION - Extremely frustration considering the ongoing construction. I was here 15 to 20 minutes before I was able to piece together what happened on a completely open landscape. There is some simple signage now, which helps a bit, but three them were in the above noted pile, one was lying on the ground and two appeared to be relocated in different locations. That leaves three holes that were correctly marked.
- CHARACTER - Just 5 nice remaining baskets. Tees are grass with no defined line. No benches, tee shading or multi-tees.
- UNIQUENESS - Flat and treeless. There is a mix of distances from sub 200 to over 400 feet. Hole (8) is listed as a par 4. I could name 365 courses that I've played with better variety out of 398 courses played.
- NATURAL BEAUTY - Safely in my bottom 10% perhaps bottom 5%. Construction scars in the backdrop. Lots of manmade structures in view and trees frame zero fairways.
- PARKING - Street parking only as of this review. This will likely change when the construction finishes.
- WIND - Wind is likely horrible here. I was blessed with a calm morning.

Other Thoughts:

This is likely normally a 1.0 rated course, but the construction has succeeding in cutting that score in half. Please PM me if things get put back together, and I will update my score. For the time being, this course will only work for school kids and deranged course baggers. By far the better option is to swing by River Bend Park five minutes away.
