Pros:
Great mix of wooded, open, and water holes located in a very large, beautiful park. I'd rank this as an intermediate course, due to the variety, length of shots and basket placement. Some baskets are placed up on hills, which is rarely seen in South Florida and adds so much to the course.
Near perfect Condition - Paved tees, good signage, and well maintained. The holes near the lake are especially nice to play, very serene.
Figure 8 Design - so the first 12 holes circle counter-clockwise around with a lake on your right, the remaining holes, once you come back to the middle, run clockwise with a lake on your left. I thought this was really smart, since it should balance the course for left and right handed players.
Few people ever go to this side of the park, other than the road (see Cons) running through the middle of it, so it still feels separated from the rest of the busy park.
Cons:
The road that runs through the middle of the course is adjacent to 8 holes. Though only a few cars and bikes roll by, not a huge problem, it still takes away some of the appeal.
No restrooms/water fountains anywhere near the course or the course parking. Hopefully, that will be added sometime in the future.
Some holes along the fence line make retrieval tricky, but there are gaps in the fence to jump through.
Rainy weather will flood some fairways (#7,8,9).
Watch out for fire ants!
Other Thoughts:
One of the best, if not, the best DG course in Broward. This one and Heritage Park are my two favorites, though Markham takes it by a slight edge. Snyder Park might be close once its complete.
Large, amazing park with plenty to do. Pavilions, Mountain Bike trails, Gun Range, Boat Ramps, Camping, RC Plane Airfield, & Dog Park.
