Pros:

Hidden Meadows at Mont Du Lac is the most polished of the courses on site currently. The course is 18 holes of moderately wooded golf with distances varying from 220' up to a little over 800'. This course is scoreable if you're accurate and requires placement over distance on most of the holes. Very fair design that offers challenges on each hole but isn't overly punishing or luck based. If you execute here you'll be fine. If you're off you'll be scrambling and struggling to stay around par. In my opinion this course is the best of the bunch out here and the least gimmicky. Just some all around good golf on this one.

The baskets are orange Arroyo's. These are underappreciated targets in my opinion. Part of that has to do with the fact that you never see these things anywhere. I'm not sure why either. Great baskets that I'd liken to better Prodigy's. They have the interlocked inner chains and your standard single chains on the outside. Great catchers and the orange makes them pop out in the woods. Love these things. One basket and placement per hole from what I could decipher.

Excellent concrete tee pads on each hole. These are nicely sized and extra grippy. Zero complaints with these things. One tee pad per hole.

Tee signs at each tee. These are pretty simplistic but have all the basic info on them. Hole #, par and distance. They're mounted on 4x4 posts and are easy to spot from a distance being white with an orange border.

The design is very good on this one. You'll need all the shots to score out here. It's open enough on most holes where you'll be able to pick and choose whether to go FH or BH but there's a number of holes that favor one or the other off the tee. Your second shots are where the versatility will come into play. Lots of well protected greens on these bending fairways. There's just not really a dull moment on this course.

Navigation is about as easy as it gets on this one. There's no long walks between holes and a map isn't needed whatsoever except maybe to get you to the first hole. By far the best in this regard out of any of the courses on the property.

Beautiful area. This course, along with Backwoods, is tucked way up the hill and on the southernmost part of the property. You'll be about as far away from any of the other activities going on and honestly you'd have no clue that you're on a very popular resort.

There's tons of benches and trash cans throughout the course which was awesome.

Cons:

The tee signs are pretty nice but a hole map would be awesome on these. It got a little annoying walking up the fairway on some of the holes where the basket is blind from the tee.

A couple holes could stand to lose a tree or two to clean up the lines a bit. Not many but a couple spots were a bit poke and hope.

Some other reviews mentioned things about having to walk up here to access the course. That'd be a nightmare if that were the case. This course is a the very top of the hill. We were able to drive up to the top of the hill and park in the lot up there when we played it. Even then it's a bit of a walk to get to the start of the course and back but it's not some kind of death march or anything like that.

Be sure to bring any liquids and snacks or whatever else you'll need. The course doesn't head back towards the parking lot at any point. Bug spray is recommended too. It's northern WI so the mosquitoes get thick in this area.

I will say that, like most ski hill courses, the staff in the base lodge has no clue about disc golf whatsoever so come prepared as to where the course starts and anything else you may want to know.

Other Thoughts:

I'm thinking that this course has been given the highest of priorities of the four as far as upkeep. It was in fantastic shape and didn't feel half assed like Eagle's Peak and White Cedar. I enjoyed this one the best out of all of them. And it wasn't even really close. It's not a must play or anything but if you do come to play here I'd make sure that you visit this one. Very good course.

-Cement tee pads
-Easy navigation (next hole arrows)
-Fine baskets and tee signs

-Plenty of challenge for pros
-Nice and helpful resort staff (for me at least)

Cons:

-Tee pads are slightly short
-$10 + tax for barely any upkeep???
-Have to sign a waiver for every course

Other Thoughts:

I came to this course from out of town on vacation. I felt the need to play one of the Mont du Lac courses, but it's not ideal to play alone.
The walk to hole one is fairly long. Plus they make you park about 400 feet away from the area where you begin your walk. I think in total it's up-down-up many levels for about 1000 feet. Very confusing. For my first time here, there were many holes I had to walk up to see the basket or throw short and pitch up. Consisted of many blind shots around bends. Definitely would bring a partner or group to play here. The course is well designed and forces good shot shaping, but it was hard to enjoy because of the bugs and wet spots throughout the course. There was also one hole where they needed to weed wack around the basket as it basically covered the hole. Even if you parked your shot, you may lose your disc? For paying $10.85, they need to put a lot more love into this course.
At least the views are gorgeous and worth all the steps.
This would probably be a wonderful course to play in the fall. This course may be a 3.5-4 in the fall time. If I were to come here again for a different course, I'd say do it between Oct-Nov?
Not family friendly in my opinion. Only play here if you are experienced and have a lot of time to play your round.

Come prepared or don't bother 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 18, 2021 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course offers many holes on and around the ski hills. It is basically far left uphill to the hardest course. Eagle on the ski hills I think. Then the more flat course which is impossible to get to without having someone drive you up the hill and pick you up.

Cons:

Not a single map posted or available. Staff seemed unaware of anything but charging $10 per person. They could not tell us where the three courses were or even where any of the #1 holes were. We were told to download an app (but slow wifi onsite). We believe we downloaded and got into the app but the map did not have detail or was not accurate. Very frustrating day and cannot recommend it.

Other Thoughts:

We played Eagle #2-#9 (or up the hill) because we were told that the easier course was at the top. We were exhausted getting up. After another long walk we did find the Hidden Meadows course and played a few holes. We hiked back expecting to finish Eagle 10-18 but could not find the holes down. Finally threw one long downhill toss and walked down to car.

Less extreme, but just as satisfying 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 18, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

Bright orange Vortex baskets, caught very nicely and have a pleasant sound to them

Nice mix of open vs. wooded - a big thing I love in all courses

A couple awesome par 4's and one great par 5 - legit two/three shot holes. The par 5 is mostly open but has a birch "gateway" to get through halfway down on the left side, with relatively steep dropoffs on the left, and jail trees to the right, so you've gotta hit that window and control your fade, or lay up. Great risk reward and use of trees in a mostly open field hole. One of the par fours also starts in the open but has a mando tree right so you have to play tight to the left side treeline. You've gotta hold straight and then hyzer (RHBH) just after hitting the mando tree gap, and hope you've controlled it well enough to land in a somewhat narrowing fairway which starts going down a valley. The next shot plays across said valley about 90 degrees left of the original off the tee fairway. Basket is perched on top of the other end (the second half of this hole is very reminiscent of hole 2 at Deer Lakes in Pennsylvania, albeit a bit wider). Honestly I played this back in May so I kinda forgot the other par 4.

A couple nice ace runs which are always great when mixed with longer shots.

Aesthetic - while not using the insane, off the wall elevation of the ski hill like the other two courses on the property, this course is still very wonderful to look at. One basket is perched in a tree (similar to Woodland Greens hole 17 at Highbridge), and little valleys and streams add to the peaceful and gratifying look of the course. The open holes and fairways inside the woods holes are mowed nice and low and look wonderful against the trees. Every once in awhile you get a nice peek out of the trees and remember how high up you are compared to the Duluth/Superior. area.

Good risk/reward - hole one plays along a ridgeline, and plays as a continuous gentle hyzer, so for an am demands a fairway driver, and if you don't control that angle you can crash into woods on the right putting you in jail or you could send it down the hillside on the left and put elevation into play really quickly, in addition to thick foliage. The par 4 with the valley top pin as well as the par 5 with the steep woods on the left and the gap come to mind in the RvR category as well.

Less extreme - this is a pro in the light that if you don't enjoy crazy balls to the wall climbs, you can take this course at a leisurely stroll pace - it feels more of a park style course, in terms of physical exertion needed to navigate.

Course flows pretty well, all holes are pretty intuitive and have hole number and distance.

Variety of straights, lefts, and rights

Very fun, challenging, and unique overall.

Cons:

Hole pars are only listed on Udisc

Only one tee per hole, as well as pin location per hole if I remember correctly - I may be misremembering though, please forgive me if I am wrong.

Lots of hole that don't have the WOW factor, and get lost in the mix. I am reviewing this course months after playing and sadly I have forgotten a chunk of the holes.

Other Thoughts:

An absolutely fantastic 3rd addition to the collection of courses on MDL. Really rounds out the group, filling in the more mellow terrain style course slot. Just as pretty, as the others, without the steep cliffs and scary dropoffs found on the other two.

Just an overall relaxing disc golf experience and accessible to almost everybody. Some additional tees and pin placements could really make this a 4.5 or possibly 5 star course. Really impressed with this incorporation to the disc golf experience at MDL.
