Pros:
*Free is for me...especially if it's decent.
•It fills a void of disc courses in southern NH that is badly needed. Greater Manchester residents' best options were to go to Pelham, Wilton, or Canterbury and those all have their pluses, but it's nice to have someplace closer that is nice and free. Did I mention that it's free?
•It has a practice basket in the parking lot near the 1st tee.
•Quick on/off of the highway. ~3 minutes from I-293.
•Because of its shape/design, you can adjust your round to accommodate your needs. You can drop down from many of the front 9 baskets to back 9 tees if you're pressed for time, lacking the energy, or the kids aren't enjoying themselves.
•The city directors are very much behind it and alternate the baskets between locations fairly regularly.
Cons:
•I'm the first person to say that various insect life are to be expected when playing a game that takes place in the woods, but the mosquitoes here are exceptional. Bring bug spray in the late spring/early summer months when there are still wet areas. Once things dry out, it's not as bad.
•I know this was supposed to be a championship course designed by an actual champion, but many casual players might find certain holes daunting. Many of the rear tee boxes don't have very clear lanes, and the lanes that are there are very tight. Holes 2, 7, 9, 13, 15, and 17 from the back tees are more of a throw-and-hope situation.
•I've seen worse amounts of trash at other courses, but fixing a garbage/recycle container every couple holes (and emptying it somewhat regularly) would help a lot. Currently there are some at the first tee and at the junction of 8/9/13/14, but other than that, not much.
•I'm not sure how the pallets are going to hold up with navigating the water/mud between 17 & 18 once next spring comes. A more permanent crossing aid should be put in.
•Not to whine or reveal my skill level, but given some of the tight tee shots, some of the pars should be adjusted for the rear tee/B basket combo positions, namely 11 and 18, and to a lesser degree 9, 10.
•Due to its popularity and depending on when you go, you're either hoping to be let through by the group in front of you or having to let the group/person in back of you play through....sometimes several times per round. Not really a complaint since you often get to meet nice people and see how they approach the holes, but it can disrupt your flow sometimes.
Other Thoughts:
I'm too grateful to have a free course close to where I live to focus on the things I don't like. In the 5 months since it opened, it has already gotten pretty stomped down and broken in. The casual player can find a challenging but reasonable round from the short tees.
