Pros:
Let me be fair about rating this course . I tried reaching out to the school via the email provided but to date have never heard a response . The course has 7 baskets that I know of , and part of the course is mowed . Those are the only pros I could come up with .
Cons:
Where to start . After reading about all of the work and thought going into this course , I was really expecting a treat playing the Sound Barrier . The course has been around since 2016 , so it is time to grade this essay . I drove to the back of the lot of Lincoln County High School . I saw a basket right away with chain link fencing in front of it . parking close by , I found out it was the putting basket , and it was accessible by simply walking to the far right of the fence , which is open . Once there , and looking at the map , I saw hole 1 , which is a tunnel shot straight downhill to a flat mowed plane of land . Good DISCatcher baskets , but no signage , no flags and no tee area . Climbing through the weeds , I found hole 2 , which had a fallen tree blocking where you tee off ( I guess ) . After safariing #2 I walked uphill through high weeds to get to the driveway . #3 is down the driveway towards the front of school . No tee pad , so I picked a spot on the driveway and threw this hole . #4 basket was behind me and to my left . I teed off again in the driveway to the basket which was protected at the end by some branches and small grass . It went downhill fast after this , if that's possible . #5 according to the map , had a fairway that was up to my face in weeds . Afraid to throw this hole , I walked down the fairway and found the basket to the right about 4 ft into the high weeds that were at least 6' high . No way that you could throw this hole . I made up a tee pad and threw down to where #6 should be , but the basket must have been swallowed up by the same weeds as 5 , and couldn't find it . I found #7's basket which was nicely placed in some woodsy area down on the mowed flats .I safaried the hole and went to the basket for 8 . I wasn't sure of where to tee off , but using the map tried another safari drive and completed 8 . I tried looking for 9's basket and realized it had also been swallowed up , along with any pathways to #10 . I gave up , played a safari style drive to the putting basket near the first tee . It is obvious that no one has set foot on this course in at least a year , if not 2 . I found that it isn't hard to rate a course you can't even find .
Other Thoughts:
Before I go on , I want to say that Lincoln County High School looks well taken care of and there was a lot of activity on their campus during the Saturday late afternoon I was there . This review has no bearing on the nice looking school that I saw here. The disc golf course , though , looks abandoned and given up on . The school looks as if they have an abundance of land for this project , and it looks like it started off well intended . I praise the fact that a high school would promote disc golf and give the kids , and the community a nice outdoor activity to do , and even maybe compete with another school for bragging rights . I challenge this school to not give up on the course , but clean it up and maintain it . If this course improves at all , please contact me and I will be glad to evaluate . I am more writing a review so I can dissuade any travelers from wasting their time and gas only to leave disappointed . My Recommendation . Pretend this course doesn't exist and drive straight towards Charleston or up to the I-64 corridor .
