Pros:
-Easy to locate, next to the local Fire Station
-Appears to receive little use
-Cement tee pads, two for each of the 9 pins except hole 6/15
-Baskets in good shape, usually visible from the tee pad
-Signs on most holes indicating OB, hole placement, mandatories and distance
-About 20 parking spots, and my rental car was the only one there on a Saturday at 10 AM
-Half in open area, half in shaded grove of trees
-Low potential for losing discs, but there are a few fences that could come into play with an errant drive
-Variety of shots: uphill, flat, and downhill, many with trees, other with steep slopes that make you think about how to keep a disc from rolling away
-Free
Cons:
-Only 9 pins, so I consider this a 9 hole course, not 18 as listed
-Inconsistent signage and markings, but a local fire fighter helped me out with the first few holes
-Longest hole was about 300 ft, and many were 150-175 ft
Other Thoughts:
Van Zee Park has a very appropriate disc golf course for new players, and a fun place to work on upshots for more seasoned players. The possibility of creating safari holes (e.g., playing from tee 9 to pin 1) is very appealing, and could make this more of an attraction for local disc golfers. This was a quick course to play, and a worthwhile stop for me as I headed back to the airport. Not being a local, I am glad I played it, but Bud Pell was a much better course and is nearby.
