Pros:
1) Another place that gains exposure for our sport with the people who would most likely pick up the game . . . kids.
2) Dual tees marked by a square concrete block in the ground. Also stenciled onto the block is Hole #, an arrow, and distance . . . and they are color coded white or red for the tees.
3) Elevation changes on two of the three holes . . . although slight . . .are a nice feature to a beginners course.
4) Trees on the right side of Hole #1 definitely come into play . . . especially from the long tee.
5) Mach baskets in great shape and they were installed properly.
6) 2 tees present a completely different hole on #1, but #2 and #3 don't change much except for the additional 52'.
7) Turf is in great condition including on the tee areas . . . probably doesn't get used much.
8) Intuitive layout and is super easy to figure out where you are going next.
Cons:
1) Short course and only three holes, don't have enough replay value to play 6 rounds to make it like 18 different holes. Plant a few trees and find 4 more spots per hole to throw from to create 18 holes and you might have something here.
2) All 3 holes are the same distances from each tee 198' and 250'. That might be by design for beginner players so they can get used to those two common distances, but it isn't fun for me. The elevation changes definitely make all three play different distances however.
3) 2 shots needed on this course for right handers . . . a sidearm for #1 or a turnover, then on #2 and #3 throw your most accurate shot but you have free reign over what you throw because they are wide open.
4) Typical school course doesn't need benches, signs, garbage baskets, or any of the other amenities.
Other Thoughts:
All in all not a bad small school course. This isn't and never was intended to be a championship level course so don't come here expecting it to be so. It was designed for exposure to middle school kids and I am sure it gets used during school. I could also see the local neighborhood kids going here to play and practice just because the school is surrounded by a lot of neighborhood.
This course is getting a 1 rating from me because I simply don't see enough for me to return unless it was the only course around me. It serves its purpose however and I am glad it exists, you just won't likely find me returning.
