Pros:

Whispering Hills is a newer course that already has the makings of one of the best courses on the west side of the state, if not the the state itself. The terrain is perfectly suited for disc golf and the design uses that terrain to great effect. The course plays more on the open side but there's danger lurking everywhere here. There's some totally wide open holes at the start but from there on there's always some trees in play. Both in the form of ones in your line off the tee and the walls of trees and brush lining the edges of the fairways. I doesn't play nearly as open as it appears. The elevation is the real challenge though. It's everywhere out here and is the real equalizer. The course plays in an area with not much else around except farm fields so the wind can get whipping. Tough combination of wind and elevation makes for a beast of a course. If the winds down it's much more attackable. That's probably rarely the case though.

Two baskets on every single hole. These are all brand new and both models catch great. Innova Discatcher Pro 28's for the longs and DGA Mach VII's for the shorts. Two of the best targets on the market currently in my opinion. The majority of the Discatchers have yellow flags attached which makes locating them much easier. Just awesome.

The tee pads are all concrete. Level, grippy and large. Oh yeah, and there's two of these per hole as well. This is a rare combo in WI. The course caters to so many skill levels and features some of the best variety around. I played the short tees to the long baskets and got worked pretty good out there. The short to short layout looks like a much more fun, and suited to my skill level, round.

There's a good mix of shot shapes needed here. Not so much off the tee, that's more of whatever you want to throw to get distance. The shot shaping comes from the second and third and even forth shots. You'll need to be able to scramble to score out here.

The navigation is pretty good out here. I'd still recommend having a map available for the time being since the signage isn't complete yet. I'm going to take a guess and say that the signage will be great once installed. At least I hope it is.

Great views of the surrounding land from the higher points on the course. Like I said above, you're in the middle of nowhere so it's a very cool vibe on most of the holes.

Cons:

Currently no tee signs. They have sign posts installed, just no signs yet. The posts are located at every tee so that's a promising sign that they'll have them at each tee. Some more next tee arrows wouldn't hurt either. Again, this is probably in the works.

No benches installed yet. They have them laying next to a bunch of the tees but none in the ground yet.

A couple gimmicky raised baskets that I'm not really a fan of. The course is good enough that these aren't needed imo. The rolling hills are enough of a challenge. I don't see the need for these but many people will love these I'm sure. I don't.

Lots of places to lose a disc. The rough is pretty nasty off the fairway in spots. Add in the elevation and raging wind potential, plus the blind second or third shots and it's likely you'll lose a disc or two here.

The open holes at the beginning are less than appealing, both in challenge but aesthetics. It's like playing on the top of a dump. Which it is. A grassy dump but a dump nonetheless.

Other Thoughts:

This course has had a ton of work, and money, poured into it and it shows. Normally this type of course isn't my favorite but there's something about this one that just works. I mean, it's the elevation. If this course was flat I'd rate it a 3 to 3.5. So many fun shots out here though. Definitely check this one out if you're in the area. Excellent addition to an area of the state that doesn't have a ton of other top notch options. And it's not even complete yet. I'm going with a 4 assuming that the signage will be as good as the rest of the other amenities. I hope to be back within the next year to see for myself if I'm right. Excellent course.
