Right. But reducing speed decreases the lift much more than the change in air density increases it. Another way to think about it would be, what good is lift if the disc slows down earlier and LSS takes over. You'll slow down and hyzer out sooner, even if the disc floats in the air better at a...
No. But it probably has more to do with the fact that I'm wearing a bunch of layers, my grip isn't as good, and I can't loosen up as much. So I'm really just not throwing as hard. I don't think the temperature does much to affect the flight of the disc itself. Technically the air is denser but I...
Grip looks fine. Actually most of your "form" looks pretty good to me, you just aren't pushing your body forward very hard during the throw. You start your x-step forward and your body is accelerating, but then you slow all of your body's momentum to nothing as you bring the disc forward. You...
I switched to a three-finger grip for distance throws the last time out and saw a huge improvement. Still sticking to the 4-finger grip on controlled drives but I am really liking the 3-finger for D. Something about the way I have to manipulate my grip to get my pinky under the rim on the...
If you're a new player then I would recommend shelving the Boss and Wraith until you're throwing a bare minimum of 300+ feet with your other drivers on a consistent basis, on low and flat golf-type shots. The way you'll throw the Boss and Wraith as a beginner will only hurt your throwing form--...
I was never a fan of the super flat ones either, I never really got the obsession with ching rocs. My favorite rocs are the original '05 Special Blends which are the ontario mold and fairly domey. They are straighter flyers with more glide. I also used to throw 9X's and the ones I had were...
I would think you should be able to cut the teebirds from 5 to 3, just pick your favorite overstable, staight and understable. Drop 1 Roc, 1 Rhyno and 1 Aviar. Drop whichever of the distance drivers you throw the least. Then you basically have the same setup but lighter.
I'll play a few times during the winter when it's really crappy out. Gore-tex shoes, smartwool socks, waterproof north face pants, a comfortable jacket with layers. Mittens (not gloves) with handwarmers to keep your fingers warm and flexible. That's about it. I've done the ribbon taped to the...
When I first started playing I carried a #2 Slice and an old D-XL, and that's it. Good old days. I think I still have it somewhere, I should pull it out sometime.
Control is decent. I'm less rusty now that I was when I shot the video, I've gotten out and played a few more times and it's feeling better. Mostly I'm hitting the lines I want with my midranges and fairways, but I'm all over the place with my distance drivers. The shots in the video were on...
Yes I have definitely zeroed in on my grip as being the biggest problem in my throw. Played 18 today and made sure to really focus on keeping my grip strong through the throw. Back to hearing that nice "snap" as my fingers pop closed after the disc comes out, which is definitely a good sign. Was...
Agreed that lighter DX is the way to go. I used to have a 175ish champ eagle that was more overstable than some firebirds. Plus when the DX gets beat you can rotate in a new one.
If you're serious about keeping it simple and focusing on form, you should pick a fairway driver like a Teebird, Eagle, or Cyclone and don't buy anything faster until you can consistently throw over 300' with them. I only threw eagles for a very long time when I started to play seriously, and my...
