Thanks! I bag a QJ in my casual bag (no TB, GZ, or EX), I've just had a hard time getting backups of the QJs I've liked a lot. I'll get a freshie that's OS when I needed straight, or US when I need a stable/OS replacement. Easier to just balance the other three molds out of the box, and that's...
1 KC or Conrad Aviar - Putt for $$
2 JK Aviar - Driving putter, favorite disc 250' in
3 Ω SuperSoft - Approach disc, favorite from 150' in
4 Teebird/3 - Go to Stable/OS driver up to about 420'
5 Gazelle - Workhorse, touchy fairway drives. Can cover ~250-350'
6 Aurora MS/QMS - Straight lines...
In my opinion, the 1.1 and 1.3 SOLF are similar in that they have either a bit more turn or less fade. The 1.2 and 1.4 are more overstable out of the box, with the 1.4 breaking in straighter.
Could just be my experience. The 1.2 SOLF was my favorite driver, then the 1.4 came along and I...
The XD was shallow and beadless, very similar to a Classic Roc without the bead. I threw the Lat 64 Spike for a while, but kind of gave up on the shallow putters.
I remember the days of walking into the disc shop and being presented with an array of XDs, which were my favorite touch and approach disc. I should have bought them all!
Now I use a thrashed lightweight Omega SS to carve anny upshots. The XD should have never been discontinued. Nothing Innova...
I tried to grab a better pic, the biggest difference between this and the shatter stamps I see is the other shapes scattered through it. You can see circles and other shapes better on the swoosh.
Thanks for all your work, this has long been one of my favorite threads
If you like the hand feel of the Roc3 and are considering a champ Rancho Roc, I'd suggest the Millennium Taurus. The rim feels nearly identical to a Champ Roc3 (better than the plus rim Rocx3 IMO) and the flight is quite overstable. Taurus flies straight like a Roc with a big beefy fade/skip at...
Not the best picture, my TB is rather worn in that has this stamp, but it is one of my favorites. I've heard it called geometric, looks like its the same as one of those widow P2's.
I've only owned two of this style, one on a Champ TB and one on a FT DX roc.
Primary putting duty: KC Aviar
Approaching: Omega BB 1.1 and SS (moderately overstable and beat understable, hit-and-stick softness)
Utility: Champ Pig (spike hyzer, flick upshots, rollers)
Also bag one fresh and one worn JK Aviar for driving. These also feel good for putting in the winter. JKs...
Putters are the only mold for which I've almost exclusively used base/pro plastics. I've never thought of my bag broken down by plastic type so I took shot:
9 Pro/DX (1 fairway, 3 mid, 5 putter)
8 Champ (5 fairway, 2 mid, 1 putter)
6 Star (3 driver, 3 fairway)
I'd prefer using molds that share...
I throw primarily pink now, white for a few molds that I can't get or don't like in other colors.
I used to not care at all about color, but have lost some of my favorite green, yellow and orange discs in situations where I likely would have found the disc had it have not blended perfectly...
I really like info like this. While it is interesting to see the Firebird near the top, I do understand. I lose Firebirds much more often than other molds as I use them for getting out of trouble and risky runs.
I think it was pretty cool to see the Exodus on the list. Take that, Eagle-L!
Still loving this disc. The 1.2 run is embossed and no longer marked RX. Interestingly, the wing profile is a bit different, but they fly about the same.
I like the new plastic as well, unusual colors and very swirly. Still really hoping to see these in DT or base plastic, it just makes too...
Even with a couple of flat top Rocs in my bag, a fresh AMS is a staple for me. Its impressive to see the difference, the AMS' HSS and straight finish is very useful. The Aurora also requires less power for straightness.
A lot of the new Millennium base and Innova Pro plastics have been feeling more and more like Star plastic. The few discs I've thrown have also been more overstable out of the box than older base/pro runs. I was wondering if that was what the "I" plastic would be.
