I think I may have finally "gotten" this concept. Spent awhile doing the hammer swing and also some hip rocking drills that I found on Ace It Disc Golf over the last few weeks. Didn't seem like I was getting it for a couple weeks but I've done the movement enough where it's instinctive and it...
Picked up a couple star Mambas and tried them out today. Normally throw pro and Gstar wraiths for the not too overstable slot. Had some of the longest throws with one of the mambas, but also had some really unpredictable throws. They are fun but I don't think they are predictable enough to...
I putt with them. Spent a lot of time looking for a replacement to the P1 when it first became hard to find a few years ago and this is where I settled. Really digging the slow speed and glide. Seems to go farther with less effort and it's super neutral.
I also use it as an understable...
Man the DX Roc is so sweet, but it breaks in so quickly! Haven't played that many rounds with mine and it's already not as reliably overstable as it was out of the box. I realize that's the point of cycling, but I don't like the idea of so much plastic waste and having to put a fresh one in so...
Update: I'm back to putting with Keystones and have been with them for awhile now. Really liking them as an alternative to the Xero. Still like the Xero a lot, just like the Keystone more.
Does the Roc come in any plastic that flies like DX, has good grip like DX, but has more durability than DX? I'm thinking XT or R-Pro might meet that description, but I haven't tried them.
Basically I want a KC Pro Roc with better grip.
My experience is that high speed understable discs are fun to throw but they aren't really good for disc golf unless I'm playing on a super easy course. Like, I can get more distance with a Tern than with a Roadrunner, but it's not predictable where it's landing.
That said, I will probably...
What's a good disc that a general audience (i.e. non disc golfers) will be fine with using for playing a casual game of catch, but that also requires similar forehand form as throwing a typical disc golf putter or mid?
Reason I ask is because I have an excellent forehand with an ultimate disc...
People who complain about not liking deep feeling mids, or not liking beaded mids, should learn how to use a fan grip. Then you can just throw whatever flies the best!
Hint: It's a Comet :)
Oh. My. God. I am kicking myself for not touching a Roc in over 15 years. They are insane. So buttery smooth, so much glide. Overstable but effortlessly controllable.
Liking the DX more than the KC Pro, might be the extra grip. I don't like throwing DX generally, but will have to make an...
Well I picked up some DX Aviar P&A. Not quite as much fade as I remember, but definitely more fade than a Xero. Not a huge amount more, but noticable. Gonna stick with the Xero.
Last time I compared a GStar Mamba to Star Roadrunner I recall the marginal extra distance not being worth the decrease in control. But it's been quite a few years and now you're making me want to try a Mamba again...
Well after trying many different discs I am back to report that I firmly believe Wraiths and Roadrunners go together like peas and carrots.
That said, nothing beats a beat wraith.
Update: Been putting with the DX Xero for awhile and it seems like a really good replacement for the original D-line P1.
Also, Innova customer support confirmed to me via email that the original P1 was literally the Aviar P&A mold in a different plastic. I was skeptical of this before based...
