Rollers always require some voodoo. There is so much crap on the ground between you and your target that even though the mechanics of a roller can be perfected the result is always at least somewhat down to luck.
Now that the pipeline is done being installed we are going to revamp the front nine (pipeline affected holes) and begin laying out the back nine (again...). Hopefully by spring there will be 18 playable holes. Nothing is set in concrete yet but the pipeline getting put in might be a blessing...

Totally agree. I almost always play my best tournaments rounds on a first time course. You focus more on each individual shot rather than comparing it to what you have done in the past.

Par from Slippery Rock's green tees are 800 rated as was previously stated. Combine that with the fact that the course is pretty much wide open and I am not sure how much more "beginner friendly" (whatever that means) the course can be.

I just want to say that I love this thread. I live on a little wooded acre and a half and have a nice little putter course set up. Currently just nine holes but will probably move to 12 here soon.

I would always suggest trying for grants but never to rely them. I know of a Non-Profit camp around here that received a grant that covered 9 baskets which was a great start.

Pittsburgh does the Scholastic Series, which is 5 or 6 events for middle schoolers (Elementary is included in Middle) and high schoolers to compete for their schools. The winning school gets to hold on to an epic trophy for the year.
