The tiniest bit of mud, which is worth it for the best course in West Virginia. Seriously. Come play this one. Creative, challenging, but still scorable for us mortals.
A new disc golf course in Raleigh County at Stephen's Lake Park, this course is quickly growing in popularity as one of the two 18-hole courses close to Beckley WV. This course uses the area well, with a fascinating layout and even a shot over 200 feet over an inlet of the lake. All holes are located in the woods close the lookout for the lake. With quality long and short teepads, all levels of play will enjoy this course. A good mix of downhill and uphill holes, typical West Virginia landscape. 3 holes are water hazards from the lake inlet, so bring a disc you don't mind having a chance of losing.
Coming from Charleston on I-64 E/I-77 S, hope off exit 44 and turn right at the stop light on WV 3. Stay left at the fork ahead. Stay on WV 3 for 9 miles. Turn right onto Dinges Branch-Stevens Branch Rd. Stay on the road for 2 miles and a half, then turn right to the lookout. Park there. Hole 1 is in the woods past the porta-potty and an old playground.
