pretty cool concept

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Feb 19, 2024 Played the course:once

Pros:

-two tees on all 9 holes, textured concrete, very nice
-Veteran baskets with red bands, in good condition
-course map on the side of the building
-poles at each tee but no signs yet
-makes the most of the land available
-variety of distances but mostly on the longer side for ams
-looks like constant improvements are going into this course

Cons:

-no signs yet. i didn't stop at the course map so i didn't notice if the hole distances were listed there but it would be nice to know at the tee box.
-the holes tend toward long and open. it would be cool to see landscaping and tree planting for future growth

Other Thoughts:

This is a very cool idea to have a disc golf course at a business like this. 1st Choice Truck Lube specializes in large truck services but also just happens to have 11 acres of land around it. The 9 holes make the most of the land available and have long and short tees on every hole. Some of the looks are pretty different from the two tees. The textured concrete tees are perfect and the Veteran baskets are great. Hopefully the poles at each tee will have a sign one day.

This is one of those courses where each hole has its own identity, kinda surprising for such an open course. Hole 4 was my favorite. I played a round from each tee at the same time and both tees on 4 had a cool shot as well as seating and a decent view of the property. Definitely a rest area of sorts.

There are a couple of mandos and a range of distances from 270'-540'. Most holes have one tree or obstacle to beat and a lot of open space. Hole 4 is the only one with a real tree line on one side. This place could really benefit from the strategic planting of trees and other landscaping to make it more interesting and challenging in the future.

Decatur has a cool little lineup of courses. Two contrasting 18's, this 9, and also a 6 hole course is doable in one day for the course bagger. I guess that's the appeal for anyone other than locals. This course, like the others, is nothing to go out of the way for but it's serviceable, even enjoyable, if you're in the area.

Really nice people

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 21, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

These people are awesome they established the nine-hole disc golf course around their business and they are very welcoming they put out a giant sign on their business as well saying they are now open to the public. There is nine poured pads and nine brand new baskets. The distance for the holes is pretty good beginners would not like it. The layout is pretty intuitive around the property. There's actually some elevation on this course.

Cons:

It can get pretty hot and windy there are not a lot of trees and it's a lot of walking in the Sun. No signs or numbers yet but he said he's working on it. I would have personally liked it if the baskets were closer to some of the trees and not in the open.

Other Thoughts:

Going and say hi and ask for permission but they are glad to see you whole number one is on the southwest side of the building walk along the road to the Southwest and then around the property.
