I Hate Disc Golf Courses That Share With Bike Trails, Ski Trails, Horse Trails, etc! 2+ years

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Oct 3, 2017 Played the course:once

Pros:

Someone kicked over about a dozen garbage cans last night leaving the park looking like the city dump. It was pretty disgusting. Acadiana Park is a large park with lots of activities going on. Last night was cross country running practice. This morning, the tennis courts were filled. Ducce starts out past the# 18 basket for Ace Run, or out in the corner of the soccer fields. There is a course map, as well as a bench and garbage can. The brush is taking over here and could easily be trimmed up. The concrete tee pads here are also on the short side, they could use another couple of feet of length. The tee signs are fine and show the distance. I found the holes at Ducee to be a little lacking in the creative category.

Navigation was an issue. After playing # 6, I walked down and back on three different trails trying to pick the one leading to the # 7 pad. It was the same after playing # 8. Which path should I take? I was wasting a lot of time, and frankly, so over this course by then. But then I came to this awesome, well constructed raised basket structure. The basket sits about 12' up with a nice metal staircase leading up this mound. There is a guide wire preventing you from falling off and suing somebody.

Holes 12 & 13 play out onto the field. They are both 285' hyser throws where you want hug the left side near the thick forest. Then 14-16 play back into the woods before finishing with the two open holes.

As much as I don't love wide open holes, I was happy to escape the woods.

Cons:

Everything about the park and course seemed old and rundown. The benches and garbage cans are a mix and match of old donated odds and ends.

The problems navigating the course mostly ruined my experience here. My attitude plummeted during the middle holes. Even the awesome raised basket couldn't bring me out of my funk.

Mixing in the bike trail made navigation ultra confusing. Was I following the bike trail for the rioute to the next basket? Are those little yellow signs for the bikers of the golfers? Someone had tied little, white pieces of cloth on a couple of holes. I wasn't sure if that cloth was a helping guide?

I didn't find any holes with any wow factor.

The last two were just open and boring.

I really dislike # 8 playing down a trail and then having to hit a sharp right turn down a narrower trail. If you're not perfectly positioned, you can't possibly hit your line and stay on the smaller trail.

Other Thoughts:

I enjoyed Ace Run last night. I thought it was fun and had some challenging, creative holes. Ducce felt altogether differently to me. The navigation issues ere a major turn off for a traveling player playing the course solo. I wasted so much time wandering the bike trails that I should have brought my bike.

Nice mostly wooded course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 4, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

As with the adjacent Ace Run Course, most of this course is a beautiful walk through the woods with shade. The course provides a very good white/blue level challenge with a good variety of required shot shapes.

The course provides a good mix of finesse shots and opportunities to take advantage of power.

There is a second set of "gold" tees (albeit natural) that provide additional challenge, a couple of which are very nice holes.

Hole 9's massively elevated basket is lots of fun.

Cons:

The navigation is a little disjointed in a couple places and the course could use additional "next tee" signs.

Holes 5 and 8 are a little poke 'n' pray.

All par 3's.

The rough is pretty thick and it's possible to lose discs.

Hole 18 runs between the soccer fields and parking lot where people are likely to be crossing.

Other Thoughts:

Don't be a dirty discer; leave the course cleaner than the way you found it.
