Not Much Of A Course Here At The Alpine Camp! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 28, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Alpine Camp sits high up in the mountains in the vicinity of Lake Arrowhead. The disc golf course winds it's way through the camp, on both sides of the little sports field, past the volleyball courts and then up into wooded area above. There are no tee pads and it appears the holes are marked by little, yellow sticks poking up. The baskets are Discatchers with the yellow bands.

The distances are pitch and putt length (100-200') which is perfect for the camp crowd they are hosting. Many of these kids won't be throwing 100 feet. The course is difficult to navigate with picking up a map, which I neglected to do. Safari might be your best option without the map. It might be your best option with the map.

Cons:

Pitch and putt challenge.

Not marked well.

Not open when camp is in session.

Usually not playable during the winter weather months. Unless of course, a crazy course bagger chooses to play it in February when it's 40 degrees and raining.

Other Thoughts:

I'm always happy to see disc golf courses at these camps. It introduces a lot of children to disc golf. However, I often see courses with 300' holes carved through the woods with super narrow fairways and punishing rough. I believe the designers here actually understood their target audience and designed the course appropriate for their skill level. I don't think it's a great course but it will suffice for the campers.
