A nice course just waiting to break free... 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 3, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

There is a wide variety of terrain and shot types here. You will be throwing up and down steep hills, on open grass, and in some thick vegetation.
The land is pretty well utilized for a disc golf complex, though it is VERY rough on the edges, which makes bad drives a punishable offense. You will have trouble making par, much less find your disc on some of these holes. (more on the rough later). This course really has the potential to be a great course, once it can get past what I believe to be a re-design.

#8 stands out to be their version of "Top Of The World", and it has its appeal. The irony is that it's so close to Delaveaga.

Navigation: The arrow signs that lead you to the tee pads are very helpful for getting you around for the most part (see cons for the caviat to this statement).

Cons:

I honestly have to say that I did not enjoy my experience here. It was frustrating trying to find my way around, and could not find the pin for holes 5-7 (which I was told later that they were placed in long positions). By the time you get to hole #12, it really becomes confusing as to which pin you are supposed to play to. They had two different numbers pasted to each pole hole, so it was even more confusing. Then the online map doesn't match anything at that point. The group ahead of me was having the same frustration. Then after "Hole 14", you have a really long walk up to hole 16 (15 is missing). I don't mind a walk if it leads to good things. But the next hole is fairway of nothing but huge thick bushes that really hide everything (especially discs) from sight. At least they placed a big flag in the basket to give a target to shoot for. If you don't land on the green, however, you are searching and searching (this hole also shares land with hole #7 long fairway, unfortunately)...... The final hole drives over a similar looking scene, and I decided to cut my potential loss and head home.

Other Thoughts:

I see there has been only 1 review in the past year, and the next batch was 4.5 years ago. I think my experience was much different than that of those trusted reviewers, which makes me think the course has experienced some changes (possibly to layout, possibly to maintenance - which would be tough here, there being lots of thick rough and shrubs to contend with). But that aside, poor navigation can spoil even the sweetest of courses for me. The signs were no help - did not have maps or distances, or pin positions (they are pieces of grafitti now). It actually inspired me to go to Dela right afterwards to turn the frown back into a smile!
