Pros:
Where to start? The Snowbowl course combines challenging disc golf with incredible scenery and solitude. Playing at 9,000' is pretty neat too. I've had the best of times playing this course, even if I had a lousy round!
Cons:
The drive: it can take a while to get up to Snowbowl.
The tees: I'm really not a fan of rubber tee pads. If this course had cement tee pads (which would unfortunately make skiing difficult during the ski season), this would have a 5-star rating.
The parking: if your round will finish before 4:30pm, you have nothing to worry about. But if you're planning on staying after, park outside of the gates to the park - otherwise your car might be trapped inside when they close.
The availability: the course opens sometime around Memorial Day (call 928-779-1951 to find out). Additionally, the weather at 9,000' can be pretty harsh - the course is subject to close from rain and lightning. Plan accordingly.
#18: The front nine of the course ends with a mammoth par-5 off of the side of a mountain with breath-taking views of northern AZ. How does the back nine end? With a steep hike for a dinky par-3. Still awesome though.
The layout: it's confusing, bring a map!
Other Thoughts:
I'm planning on making several day trips to Flagstaff to play this course during the summer - it's well worth it!
