Short and expensive 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 12, 2019 Played the course:once

Pros:

Baskets - Brand new and in a good condition. Also colour co-ordinated bands have been added to the pole of each basket to match the colour of the tee sign. In such a small area this can make identifying the correct basket easier.

Tees - New rubber matting has been laid for each hole. Tees are also really large and allow for run up. I expect in wet weather the rubber may get slippy.

Cons:

Cost - A round here would normally be £7, however if you have your own kit then this is reduced to £6. Add on top the cost of parking though and you are looking at an expensive round.

Location - this course is a good 20 min hike from the other courses at Ashton Court. It's a shame because anyone who comes and plays the long layout is unlikely to venture up here to play the new setup.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very short layout, however the space has been used well and you never feel like you are playing up the wrong hole.

Hole 1 - short and straight. 1 large tree down the left and deep undergrowth behind.

Hole 2 - Longer than most holes here. A choice of 2 routes off the tee. Try and hit the small gap or go wide right. Basket is on a mound with a drop off behind.

Hole 3 - Large bench here to have a breather on, nice straight hole. Be careful not to drift your disc right, there is thick bramble

Hole 4 - A straight shot through the trees to the basket which is under a leaving tree. To the left is thick rhoddidendron. Try not to go long as there is a foot golf course and a bridleway.

Hole 5 - An odd hole this. It's short, but with bushes left and an unsighted view of the basket off the tee, this is a challenge to get close.

Hole 6 - Another short hole, but straighter than the last. Should be a good chance of a birdie here.

Hole 7 - This hole feels like an after thought. Set out of the woods it is a straight shot up a grassy slope. The wind can come into play here but why couldn't the basket be moved slightly left into the thicket. This could have made a dull hole interesting.

Hole 8 - The longest hole on the course, with a low ceiling tee, large trees lining the hole and a tricky roots system which can lead to awkward bounces.

Hole 9 - A difficult hole to end. You cannot see the basket from the tee. You either go right down the path or straight down the middle and hope for favourable kick off the huge pine.

Overall I enjoyed my visit, however due to the cost doubt I will rush back
