What to Expect: Beautiful views from this course set inside the San Juan mountain region. This valley course is basically a flat meadow surrounded by glorious views. There were more deer on the course than people within 50 miles probably.

Amenities: There is a small gravel parking lot, a single port o john, a nice and newer looking playground and not much else. There is a sign saying no parking overnight or camping so you won't be able to use this as a stopping point on your trip.

Tees/Signage/Baskets: Tees were earthen, basically a rectangle of removed grass/sod. It hadn't rained in quite some time so there was no issues with footing. Good signage, course Map Kiosk is a little deceiving as it shows way more trees than you actually encounter on the course. Tee signs are pretty nice, as they have all relevant information and a hole map. Baskets were Discatchers in good shape and caught fine. No practice Basket.

Design: If you are looking for a flat open field to work on your game with baskets as targets, this course is great for that. Hole distances vary from 200-400 feet and there is very little, if any, obstacles or trees to impede your throws. The only elevation change you will encounter is on Holes #7 and #8 where you play basically through a drainage gully. Due to lack of OB, water hazards, or really any thing close to a forced line or shot shape, any skill level could play this course (though I'm guessing most don't).

Meadow: This course is honestly not much more than a flat practice area with baskets thrown it at varying distances. If you are looking for variety or shot shaping of any kind you will not find it here. The views of the surrounding mountains are wonderful but it's almost disheartening as you play this course and see all the potential spots a course would have been much better to have been placed.

Tee Pads: There are none. It's an earthen rectangle, which does the job, but I can see it being an issue in snowy or muddy events.

9 Holes: This course is only 9 holes and the property is not very big. I can't imagine having to play 18 of the same hole over and over again though with the only change being distance.

No overnight parking or camping: This is just a minor con, but we had planned on pushing hard to get to this course, play it, and stop off for the night on our trip back across the country. It was getting dark as we were finishing up and we had to keep driving through sparsely populated mountains looking for a place to park or camp for the night.

Blandness: This course was so bland and repetitive that we almost quit without finishing multiple times. Course does not appear to see much play as even the earthen tee pads didn't show signs of foot traffic.

We chose to try this course out because of where we were on our trip and because of the looming setting sun. We didn't expect to be able to get in a full 18 in Pagosa Springs before dark. After stopping here and playing the course, we were thoroughly unimpressed and it felt like a waste of time. Not really the designers fault as they had nothing to work with on the property, but this is certainly a course I would skip even if I lived next door to it unless I simply wanted to dial in distances and work on form in an open non-threatening field.
