Pros:

Athey Creek Church DGC is a nice little brand new course in West Linn and Wilsonville area. This course offers a nice variety of shots and plays as 10 holes which is a little interesting. Course is on a church and very well maintained. This course is right on a hill beside a road with some long holes up the hill.

Brand new hardware such as Dynamic Veteran baskets which show you where the next hole is. New tee pads and temporary tee signs. Some holes do play in the woods which is nice to have a little bit of change after hiking all the way up that hill. Hole 5 is probably my favorite hole. This hole plays downhill and all the way downhill which is nice after playing those steep holes.

This course is pretty easy to navigate you way around. All of the tee signs are temporary with wooded sticks and laminated paper. It does not looks like they did a lot of clearing before they put in this course. Hole 4 is a beast. This hole plays straight up hill with the tee pad mounted into the side of the hill. Hole 7s tee pad has been moved back I think. When I played they had a temporary one when the course was first added.

The views are great especially from hole 5 and a couple other holes. All the baskets are great especially one of them has a basket on top of a stump.

Course has changed and I like the changes that they made. Hole number 2 tee pad is now much better where you can actually throw a bomb down. Top of the world hole like Hole 5 has gotten a lot of clearing. It is great now but when I went there was a lot of leftover blackberry vines.

Cons:

This course is uphill and 10 holes is a little weird but if they had the room than it is fine. They do have back tees on some of the holes and especially on hole 2 they moved the tee pad but when I played it was like hole 4 all over again. This course has changed and it is probably much better.

This course has a few minor problems but not very much. It was recently added so they still have a few glitches to work out. This course is one of a couple courses to have a disc golf course on a church which is fine. Crossing fairways are not the greatest on holes 6 and 10. I wonder if they have fixed that because I have not been there in a bit.

Other Thoughts:

This course is more on the you have played and you are decently good course. I do like all the things they have added in the recently good pics. I would like to see them add tee signs to this course and take out the temporary ones.

This course is definitely on my top list for favorite courses on a Church. Some minor improvements and this course could be maybe even a 4!

Another Church Course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jun 23, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Athey Creek is one of the newer and certainly one of the better courses in the Oregon City/West Linn/Tualatin/Wilsonville area. The course plays throughout hilly, lightly wooded terrain.

-Brand new Dynamic Veteran baskets.

-Two tee boxes to choose from. The long tees are concrete, and the short are natural. Both are market with signs.

-The course flowed well, with no long walks between holes. The only problem is the crossing fairways of holes #6, #9, and #10.

-Fantastic views from the top of the hill, at tees #3 and #8.

-Best Holes:
#5, a downhill shot best for a forehand flex. The basket is perched dangerously atop a huge tree stump.

#9, a long, downhill, blind shot playing more than 500 feet and through a grove of Douglas firs

#10, a gentle backhand hyzer shot through the trees.

Cons:

Problematic Holes:
#2, a 500 foot shot up a very steep hill. The steepest part of the hill is directly in front of the tee, making it difficult to progress more than 1/2 of the way to the basket. This would be a better hole if the tee were moved forward 100ft.

#9, the long, downhill blind shot crosses fairways with both holes #6 and #10. This would be a safety concern during crowded times.

-The tee signs were laminated and only featured the hole number. Permanent signs with distance and par would be welcome.

-There appeared to be some sort of stage in the area of holes #6, #9, and #10. I have no idea when it's used, but it would close those three holes.

Other Thoughts:

-Significant work looks to have been done clearing blackberries on the hillside near holes #5 and #9.

-Athey Creek Church is the fourth church in the area to install a disc golf course, in addition to PDX Bible Church (Lunchtime) Tualatin Community Church, and Willamette Christian Church.

-From reading past reviews, this course appears to be seeing ongoing improvements. I'm excited to see what's in store for the future.
