Sneaky fun course...if you have a Guide 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jun 21, 2013 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

2013 Update: Increased rating to "Good" for increased challenge. Also calling this a typical course doesn't do it justice.

-Mountain disc golf. Lots of elevation change, obstacles and great scenery.
-Playable 7 days a week dusk til dawn for free.
-Good mix of short/easy holes and longer/more difficult holes.
-Rarely busy.

Cons:

-Only open a few months a year.
-Long grass and trees can make locating errant discs frustrating.
-No on-site parking.
-Tough to follow without guide.

Other Thoughts:

Bachelor Gulch's course is a hidden gem for disc golfers in the Vail/Beaver Creek area.

If you have the oppurtunity to learn the ins and outs of this course you will really enjoy it, but if you are in town and have a few hours to kill, I would not recommend it.

Play Beaver Creek or Adventure Ridge @Vail for more polished courses in the immediate area. If you have wheels get over to CMC Glenwood Springs or CMC Leadville for two of CO's best courses (both within a 60 minute drive)

With a guide this is a 3+ star course easily, but because of some significant setbacks (tough course navigation, dense rough and the fact that the course is relatively hidden) I can not rate it as a "better than good" course.

Find a guide on DGCR for this course and you will not be disappointed!

UPDATE: Course has a new, more challenging layout for 2013. Plays up ski slope for front 9, and back down for the back 9.

Much bigger than in years past. Rounds will take about 30 more minutes in my estimation. Fewer ace runs. Scores will go up on average and losing discs will still pose a significant risk. If you are ready for a strenuous hike and a long round of tough golf, this is the course for you!
