Great Fun Course on the Easier side 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 25, 2015 Played the course:once

Pros:

I have two sons, 6 and 9. The 9 year old is enthusiastic and really getting into the sport. This course is just about perfect for family play where there are some beginners and some more advanced players. My son loves being able to make par and I enjoy going for birdies, watching everyone have a good time. The shots make good use of the existing trees, hills and valleys to make a fun course! Not a place for a group of expert players demanding an extremely challenging course, but this is clearly not what this course is intended to be. We will definitely be coming here again!

Cons:

The course is not complete yet - there are posts but no signs or maps so finding some tees (especially hole 9 - which is down near the skateboard park) and baskets are a bit tough. (At two points we discovered late we were shooting at the wrong basket). This is obviously a problem they are working on - they have done a great job so far.

It is also clear there is enough space here to put in a 'back 9' to this course or even use the existing baskets to create a full 18 holes. My sons were both itching for more!

Other Thoughts:

If you are a beginner, have a mix of skills in your group, or are looking to work on you mid and short game at a nice park ,this is a great place. Its also an amazing park for families - hiking trails to a small lake, new play structures, great picnicking, lots of grass, volleyball, soccer, baseball, bocci, skateboard park, off road rc track and roller hockey rink. We ended up spending the afternoon here.

TICKS!! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 18, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

• Interesting shots with elevation changes
• Great tee boxes
• Free
• Practice Basket
• Beautiful park

Cons:

• Wind can be a problem at times
• Only 9 holes (hopefully will expand to 18 in years to come).
• Currently a lot of weeds, and increased disc loss potential (not usually a problem though).
• Currently a TON of ticks!!

Other Thoughts:

LOOK OUT FOR TICKS!!! I've played here a lot and it's never been a problem before this last round, but be warned, the ticks are out in full force. No exaggeration, on holes 7 & 8, I pulled around 20 ticks off of me, and my buddy had about 15 more. It was so bad that we blew off our usual second round of 9. So take precautions and check yourself diligently before heading home.

Beniciaaaahh 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jan 17, 2012 Played the course:once

Pros:

Better than expected, with ample elevation starting from the 3rd hole on. Great baskets and rubber teepads, and will get even better once the signs & retainer walls are complete. Dual pin locations per hole. Very nice surrounding views with Lake Herman and the Delta nearby, as well as Mt Diablo in the distance. Holes #1 & #2 made me wonder if this was going to be a short course, but once I got rolling from #4 on, it got longer and more difficult.

Cons:

Had to pay $5 bucks to go over the Benicia Bridge.

Other Thoughts:

Cool RC car dirt track on hole #7. Excellent family community park with all the nice amenities. Teepads #4 & #8 are excellent burn spots with a great views. This new DGC is a VERY welcomed addition to the sparse offering of East Bay DG courses.
==================
Uniqueness: B+ (very nicely laid out around a multi-use community park)
Difficulty: A- (good elevation & use of trees; can get breezy)
Fun Factor: A- (very nice design & each hole felt unique)
Aesthetics: B+ (some refuse; pretty park; nice surrounding scenery)

Overall: B+
