Pros:
Course is a mix of park, woods and open holes. Two holes have two baskets. There are tee pads, signs, and baskets on every hole.
Hole 9 is probably the signature hole on the course, it is by far the best hole on the course. It's a 280 foot tunnel shot that goes over a small stream near the basket. I believe that this was hole 16 on the old layout.
Holes 7 and 8 are also nice wooded holes.
Next tee arrows on the bottom of the baskets. Not really needed on most of the holes but they are helpful on holes 6-9.
Cons:
Many of the baskets are showing their age. Some of them could be 20 years old.
If I remember right only 8 of the holes have concrete tee pads. Then there are 3 crushed limestone tee pads and a rubber tee pad. The rubber tee pad was not in the best shape either.
Most of the holes are between 250' and 300'. So there isn't much variety in distance here. The longest hole is only 310'.
Other Thoughts:
Calling this a redesign is a little bit of a stretch. I believe 6 of the 12 holes are from the old course, 1-5 and 9(old 16.) If you played the last layout you have a pretty good idea of what to expect, the main difference is that you no longer cross the road to play the 6 holes in the prairie. For me removing the prairie holes doesn't really hurt the course that much.
The renovation was fairly recent so the course still has some unfinished areas. Holes 6-7-8 and 10 could all use some more clean up and grooming.
There is at least one old concrete tee pad that isn't being used. If they could bring in some equipment they could probably drag it over to hole 8 to replace the rubber tee pad. They would only have to drag it ~100 feet.
The two holes with two baskets are kind of confusing, I didn't know which basket to throw to. I just played them twice to play each basket.
For a rating I am going to go with a 2.5. I almost gave it a 2.0 but I was feeling generous. This isn't a course I would go out of my way to play. But it isn't too hard to add this course to your trip since it is only a few miles off the main highways. For the course baggers this is an easy bag. The layout is easy to follow with plenty of signs to help get you through the course quickly.
