Solid little course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 22, 2014 Played the course:once

Pros:

Tight fairways challenge but not to the point of insanity. Short holes are beginner-friendly but still will make more experienced players think about shot selection. The one long hole is a standout.

Cons:

Yea, some of the holes are repetitive. Yea, the rough is pretty gnarly. This is still a course worth checking out.

Other Thoughts:

The day I was here the course was virtually empty, giving me time to take multiple shots off the tee and get some good practice in while playing my round. Definitely worth a trip if you live in the area and are looking for a quiet, small course to explore. Looks like there are other things to do in the park as well like bbqs so you could make a day of it and play a few rounds!

Short and Sweet 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:May 12, 2012 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

* Cement pads (17 out of 18 holes)
* Signage Hole # and distance
* Official metal baskets (Chainstar?)
* Occasional picnic tables and trash cans
* Restrooms (open only in season)
* Defined fairways
* Easy to follow course layout
* Printed score cards at Hole 1

Cons:

* Not a lot to complain about
* Hole 9 missing tee pad
* Back 9 a little less fun than front (opinion)
* Rough gets really rough with growth

Other Thoughts:

I really like this course, a little on the short side but some of the narrow fairways make up for it. Challenging course the rewards accuracy over huge drives. The front nine holes are really fun with some elevation changes. The back nine feels a little more crammed in, almost no elevation change. Lots of dog legs, so make sure to bring your creativity when playing.

New scorecards show Par 56 (two par 4's), but we just play it by PDGA rules and call it Par 54. Support the state parks for $10/year on your license plate renewal, one-time fee is good for a full year. I will be back again for sure!

Fun wooded course 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 24, 2011 Played the course:once

Pros:

- variety in shots required
- very challenging fairways between trees
- great park surrounding the course
- not busy at all when we were there
- concrete tee pads on all but one hole
- good signage marking the way through the course
- the course seems very clean (no trash) and the baskets are good

Cons:

- could use a couple more longer holes, lots of short 200-250 ft holes
- could use some slightly better tee signs with hold descriptions
- the rough looks like it would be ROUGH in the summer months
- due to the wooded course bugs will be bad in the summer
- no water or sand hazards to speak of
- POISON IVY and LOTS of it. Look out on almost every hole.

Other Thoughts:

This is a fun course. if you are in the area and have a state recreation pass (required for park entry) then definitely swing by this course. You can be done in a little over an hour without rushing. The park is nice, and there is a lot of room for picnics or going in the lake etc. The disc course is in its own area so there is no worry of hitting other park users. If you live out of state and only have time for a couple of courses, there might be better ones in the area (like Hudson Mills) that you would want to choose over this one, especially since it is a bit pricey to get in if you don't already have a park pass. But this course is still a fun and very challenging wooded course.

Worth the Drive 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 7, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

Nice layout in beautiful area
No one around
Shot variety
Good use of limited elevation change
Fairways were raked of leaves

Cons:

Pretty short course
Plenty of trees in your way, almost no open holes
Back 9 concrete tees are slick! WTF were they thinking with no texture on the concrete pads
One foot deep accumulation of oak leaves off the fairway has serious disc loss potential. Be aware.

Other Thoughts:

I liked this course a lot. Looks kind of far from Ann Arbor on the map, but the drive really went quite quickly. If there was another decent course nearby, would be even better. Some locals we saw on the course recommended playing Jackson Community College, but reviews on this site of that course have me thinking otherwise.
