Fun Wooded 9 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Feb 2, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Sign in parking lot welcoming disc golfers and stating where hole 1 is. Concrete tee pads on all but 1 hole (7). Nice big signs by each tee with hole layout and distance to pin. Moderate to heavily wooded on most holes. Beautiful setting that creates a nice secluded and peaceful feeling. Technical shorter holes through the first 6; the last 3 are a bit longer and more open. Several ace runs and all holes are birdie-able, but tight lines and shot shaping are required. Very easy to navigate; no map required.

Cons:

Small 2'x4' tee pads. Natural (dirt) tee on hole 7. Holes 1-6 have a 'back and forth' layout that is repetitive and gets boring fast. Pretty flat despite the area, with only slight elevation change on all holes. No real long holes; most are around 200'. Only 1 set of chains on baskets. No restrooms, trash cans, or benches on course.

Other Thoughts:

This is a very fun 9 hole course. Great for beginner/intermediate level players. Moderately challenging due to the amount of tall, mature pine trees. The baskets caught very well for me despite only having one set of chains, but I didn't have anything hit them from further than 40' out, so I'm not sure how they would catch an ace or longer shot. I was hoping for more elevation change given the area, but the course is very fun and I would recommend playing it if you're ever in the area.

small tees, short baskets 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 21, 2010 Played the course:once

Pros:

The first six holes are filled with tight tree shots, then the last three have open fairways. Good use of the very limited area that was available. The large tee signs made it easy to find my way around the course even the first time. There is also a large soccer field on site for driving practice.

Cons:

This is a short course. The holes are all about 200-250ft. They are also not especially interesting or all that different from each other. For me, it was a long way to go for nine short holes. Probably not worth a long road trip unless you want to check it off your wish list. The tees were concrete, but way too small for any sort of x-step.

Other Thoughts:

Not really a con, but the baskets were a bit odd. They were a few inches short, the basket itself was real deep, and had no center chains. They were all the same and they were real sturdy, probably made by a local welder. Since this course is at an elementary school, I assume the small tees and short baskets were on purpose.
