A Nice Montana Treasure 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Jul 4, 2009 Played the course:once

Pros:

This course is beautiful and very well planned out! It will test quite a few aspects to your game. The course is quite a workout too so bring lots of water. I played by myself and I ran out of water by hole 13. The downhill throws on #4 and #10 are amazing as you watch your disc soar for seconds. And the alley shots through the woods are really rewarding if you get the toss that you are looking for. A definite must-play course if you are passing through the Missoula area.

Cons:

Dirt tees. Some signs are missing that show where to throw to. The climb to the first tee can get you winded before you even start.

Other Thoughts:

Have a course map if it's you're first time. Rest every few holes because you'll need it! You may need a spotter on the downhill throws depending on skill level, other than that you shouldn't lose any discs. Be prepared to spend several hours here, it took me around 3 hours.

One of the Best 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 28, 2009 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Has everything but water. Tight shots, open shots, uphill, down hill... super sick course!

Cons:

Dirt tee pads sometimes muddy, caution. parking at the 1st or second parking lot is recommended, do not park on the road, you might get a ticket.

Other Thoughts:

US National Forest Land, keep it clean. Please pack out what you pack in... i.e. beer cans and pop bottles

Your my boy, Blue!! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Nov 14, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Lots of shots involving elevation, up/down and across. Good mix of tightly wooded holes and open bombers. Usually playable year round. Beautiful views of the Missoula valley and surrounding mountains.

Cons:

Very crowded from March/April till the mosquitos come in June. Legal parking can be an issue at times. Some long blind shots. Can be very icy at times during the winter.

Other Thoughts:

More course markers would be helpful for the first-timer. Bring lots of water during the summer months. Some of the hills are used for sliding during the winter so please respect other users.

Pros:

Million dollar views of the Missoula Valley and some long way down the hill shots. Truly an experience to play. Long and challenging.

Cons:

Can be very crowded on nice spring days. Bring water.

Other Thoughts:

Fire danger in July & August (usually) and icy slippery pins in February

Great Course, don't miss it! 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Sep 28, 2008 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great variety of holes from bombers that go on forever to technical tree-lined testers. Very few generic holes. Wonderful views from many tee boxes. Excellent aerobic workout if you want it to be. At least a couple of signature holes - #4 & #10 stick in your memory with their huge downhill tosses that you can see all the way to the basket (or gully in the case of #4).

Cons:

Hole #1 is in a weird location compared to most commonly used parking area, many locals start at #10, #12, or #13. Lung busting climbs if you aren't used to exercise at altitude. Several holes (#2, #3, #9, #13) are disc eaters, use spotters if possible.

Other Thoughts:

A great course, but if you are just visiting, find a local to help you find your way and spot for long, blind, downhill shots and possible rollaway discs. This course gets a lot of play, so finding a friendly local is easy.

All 18 holes have rubber tee pads and there are two tee locations on 16 of the 18 holes. White tees are generally shorter and often avoid early hazards, while blue tees are more challenging.

Beautiful course 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 6, 2008 Played the course:never

Pros:

Awesome scenery with the tall pines and the snow capped mountains. The most beautiful course that I've ever played. A great mix of shots using the natural landscape. Even though there seemed to be a lot of people playing, the course didn't look trampled or tore up.

Cons:

Definitely need some signs marking a path to the next tee pad. I spent 10 minutes looking for one of the holes. It is quite the work out with the hills. You better plan on doing some climbing. (This is one of the things that makes it so great) Dirt tee pads are a bummer also.

Other Thoughts:

If you are anywhere near this course it is a must to check it out. Next time I'm in Montana I will definitely play it again, even if I have to drive a few extra hours to get to it.

Awesome Course 2+ years drive by

Pros:

Super fun, especially the bombing shots off the hills.

Cons:

I screwed up my knees one summer running down the steep hills every day.

Other Thoughts:

Was even better when all holes were tone holes, rather than baskets!

Surprised this course hasn't been reviewed yet. 2+ years

Pros:

Very well designed using all the features of the land-mountainsides, gulleys, thick pine forest, cliff shots. Well marked- tee signs showing length, image of the hole and almost all are still there. Amazing views of mountains in the distance and above you. Good variety of shots, mostly straight with all types of hills-up so steep you can barely walk up it, down so steep your disc just soars, and along the sides of hills. Many technical shots.

Cons:

Physically challenging- you will be out of breath by the time you get up the hill to the first tee pad. Dirt tees can be hard to tell exactly where to throw from, and are rough and rocky. Some high grass. Many blind holes make for a long day the first time around.

Other Thoughts:

Needs good tee pads, waymarkers to point you along to the next hole, and flags in the trees to show where the basket is on the many long blind holes. With all that, it'd go up to 4.5 of 5 stars for sure.
