Great addition to DFW

Reviewed: Updated: Played on:Dec 3, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Brand new tee signs and baskets
Large cement tee pads
Well manicured park
Lots of large trees on more than 1/2 the course

Cons:

A few Mando's to force a shot.
Sidewalk comes into play too much. It's a very popular area for walking/jogging
Hole 13 throws over a "fire pit" and close to a picnic table.

Other Thoughts:

Excellent job Eric McCabe on a course well designed for advance players. Yes, the course does have some issues and is not perfect, but then most courses aren't.

The course opened on Thanksgiving day and 2 weeks later and a great weather Sunday afternoon, there were groups on every hole checking out the new course.

The course is park style with many good size trees to throw around or through. A small creek comes into play on 4 of the first 5 holes, In general, the more open the hole was, the longer the hole. The course does have several technical holes though the large grove of trees.

there are several walking/jogging paths that come into play. Mostly they are "sidewalk and across OB" with the exception of hole 5 and 8. Hole 5 is an elevated tee where you throw over the sidewalk and creek.

Holes 8, 12, 15, and 18 all have mando's on them. Mostly to force shots or to help avoid other park users.

Hole 18 is the only par 4 and the longest hole on the course at 726ft. The first tree in the fairway is the mando right, then the course goes up the hill to a grove a tree's with an OB sidewalk on the left hand side of the fairway.

I am going to come right and and say this, hole 15 is the shortest and dumbest hole on the course. It's a "filler" hole with a mando forcing a left to right flight path with the sidewalk to the right. (I just noticed the Tee sign has a typo on it)

Would I play here again? Yes, this ranks up there in the top courses in DFW in my opinion. It's only 20-25min from my house so I think I will be playing it again. If you are limited to what you are playing in the Dallas area, this course should be on your short list.
