Back Yard Golf 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Dec 1, 2013 Played the course:once

Pros:

Private course built around the owner's house and neighbors back yard. It is a perfect example of what most disc golfers would do it they had 2 acres of wooded, hilly land behind their house, a dozen baskets, and a lot of free time. Baskets are single chain M-14 (I believe), tees are dirt but well marked, and the fairways have been cleared with a leaf blower to make numerous trails through the woods. There is a large creek that runs through the course and comes into play on most of the holes. Although the course is very short, there are enough uphill, downhill, hyzer and anhyzer shots to keep you on your toes. Throw in a couple of precarious pin placements, and all together the design was surprisingly very good!

Cons:

The baskets and tees didn't bother me but throwing across the neighbors yard and from their backyard was a bit strange. Not to mention playing around the owners house.

Confusing layout with the 18 holes using 10 or 11 baskets. A lot of shared fairways and crossing fairways. NO WAY I could figure it out without a guide the first couple of times.

Other Thoughts:

Rob (the owner) was very gracious with his time to show us around. He has spent a ton of hours landscaping the course, building bridges, and lining the fairways with rocks and other stuff to make you feel like your in a small park when your playing. After the first 3 holes around the house, I forgot I was playing golf in the middle of a subdivision. You can tell how passionate he is and that is what makes this course worth playing. There are no bad holes and the design was well thought out. I would say it's worth playing if it's on your way or not too much out of it. If you know what your getting into before you arrive and don't expect much, you will be in for a great time.
