I Could Play This Little Church Course Over And Over! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Oct 12, 2018 Played the course:once

Pros:

Even though I played the little Calvary Chapel course is less than ideal conditions, I was really impressed just about everything. The course starts out near the front of the church. You have a practice basket here. The red Monkey Trap baskets are gorgeous. The tee signs are good giving you all the information you need. The concrete tee pads are long and grippy. The course loops back to the beginning and has a nice combination of hole types, long and open, wooded and one playing over a lake. This is not a beginner course but is a solid recreational level.
# 1 plays 330' up to a basket set just inside the wooded area. # 2 is the hole playing over the small lake. The sign says the hole is 227' making the water carry somewhere between 180' and 200' but a player can easily play very safe by staying right skirting around the lake. # 3 is a fun little 156' downhill shot through the trees. 4 is about 200' slightly uphill to a basket set in the trees. # 5 is straight ahead across a pretty valley 285'. # 6 is a blind 375' slightly uphill. # 7 is 235' and the basket is set behind a small bush. 8 is 267' over a hill and # 9 is a longer 340' (according to the sign) wide open throw. The distances on the tee signs did not match up with the on-line map distances which were much longer. I believe the longer distances were probably more current.

Cons:

After being so impressed with this course, I was pretty disappointed with the final hole. It's obviously designed to loop back but ends up being just a 400' open thrown across the grass.
The distances listed on the tee signs and my on-line map were quite different, sometimes as much as 60'. The on-line map seems to be more current.
Good chance for casual players to lose a disc in the murky lake on hole 2.

Other Thoughts:

Great amenities and lots of fun all with a welcoming attitude from the church. Nice course to come and play if you are a rec player and maybe up to intermediate level although intermediate players will shoot way under par. Not totally bad for beginners as long as you can thrown around the lake. Lots of lovely green grass, plenty of trees and some gently rolling hills all come together to make for a fun, enjoyable experience, although it's a bit overrated for a 9-hole course at 3.5. I liked it a lot but it's basically an average course - 2.5.
