I Think It Reached Bottom 2+ years drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Jul 25, 2020 Played the course:once

Pros:

I couldn't figure out where to park here , so I parked in the open lot near where hole 7 tees off ( I guess ) . No bathrooms . eight Spiderweb 3 baskets . There are fast food and gas stations nearby . That's it .

Cons:

I found eight of the 9 baskets here . I think #4's basket couldn't take the shame of this course , jumped the expressway fence , and hitched a ride down to Grassy Creek . The map I printed tells me that there are blue and gold tee pads , but I never saw a pad , toe board , spray paint or little flags in the ground to identify them . No tee pads , just make up your own course .The online map might just as well be a street map of Kenya . The area was dirty , trash everywhere from the restaurant parking lots and dumpsters nearby . I think a good idea was lost in Calvary Christian School introducing disc golf to the congregation , or advertising for the school . The school can still use this course to its advantage . Instead of " Wait til I tell your parents " , You can say " Wait til you have to play this course after school , with a Blowfly Putter " !! I was actually sad for the school , because I don't want it to be a refection of it . It looks nice from the outside and I bet it's a great place to learn . Just not to learn about disc golf . There aren't any safety issues here since the pond hole basket is hiding or gone , so the only way to get hurt here is to rub up against the highway fencing while retrieving a disc .

Other Thoughts:

What can I say ? I was hoping for better . Scattered baskets strewn about in a confined and mostly open area does NOT make a disc golf course . There has to be something more permanent than :" Hey , let's throw a drive from that Subway wrapper for tee 7 and use that pizza box for #8 " .
There is a medical unit that runs alongside of most of this course . An ambulance rushed out of there while I played . After you find out that you wasted a half hour of your time looking for nonexistent tee pads , and you throw yourself onto the ground several times in frustration , you can easily walk into the unit for much deserved help .
My Recommendation : If you are not part of Indianapolis's waste collections , you don't need to be here .
Course Collectors : Hop out of your car with a putter and a midrange , cover the eight baskets as fast as you can , bag it and move on .

Pros:

This nine hole course is on the grounds of a Christian school and is open to the public. This short course has nice new baskets and two sets of tees which helps cater to a wide variety of ages at the school. The tees are marked with colored number signs and there's a 2x2 piece of wood in the ground at the front of the grass tee area. There is no hole diagram but none is needed; finding the appropriate basket and next tee is relatively easy.

While the space is mostly open (as it should be for a beginner course), the small hills were well incorporated into the design to make the putting greens interesting.

Cons:

The course is mostly open, mostly flat except for a few small hills I mentioned earlier and there is no shot diversity. Although things like this probably aren't needed on a beginner course like this.

The pond on holes 2 and 4 might be a little close to the fairway for young kids, although anyone who has been playing for a while will have no problem at all.

There was quite a bit of litter on the ground when I played here.

Other Thoughts:

Don't let my rating fool you, this course is great for what it is meant to do, introduce young kids grade K-12 to the game. It's also a great place to take brand new players. If this isn't the kind of course you're looking to play then skip it.

This course is literally right off the highway so if you're on long trip you can stop for a few minutes to play, stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat at one of the near by restaurants.
