Walking up to the first tee and looking out into this valley spotted with DisCathcer baskets was quite a cool experience and feeling. I never get to play in elevation being from Houston, especially elevation of this magnitude. Combine the elevation with long bomber holes down the face of the valley, hole #1 to start off with, and you just have a feeling that this course will be one that will stay in your memory.

There are a few ponds that are in play only a little bit except on Hole 12, which shoots down the hill and needs to cover the pond.. All in all that hole is about 425 feet downhill with a pond to cover. It was easily one of my favorite holes I have played in 93+ courses played.

The course seems to be just for disc golfers without walking trails. With this being said, the course has a lot of character with everything becoming worn down like the tees, signs, and baskets, which adds character to the name of being the "Badlands."

I am not a huge fan of there being 5 possible pin placements. It makes it hard on the first time to locate where the basket is or which basket you need to be shooting at. Hole 1 was a marvelous hole however it is easily to get confused and shoot at the 17th basket as they are separated by only by 60 or so feet. This could be avoided by having newer tee signs that are legible; the ones now have probably been out for 10 or so years since being replacement.

I did not find navigation as difficult as some other reviewers found but there definitely were no yellow brick roads leading to the next hole.

The course is a bit wide open. I almost gave it the benefit of the doubt since it has very good elevation but I realized the lack of obstacles trumps the big elevation change.

Combining this with the Blair Witch Project back 9 can make a great day of disc golf with a wide variety of shots. Once you finish Hole 12, tee 1 will be on the left for the second course. The 9th basket of the second course leads right back up to the 13th tee of Badlands.

This was my favorite course so far to play in the Denver area, not that that is comparing much right now, but it is a course I would go back to and enjoy it every day.

This course is a nice change of pace from the other courses in the area. There are plenty of green rolling hills and some good distance with a decent amount of challenges. Though we didn't see any walkers, there were walking paths that wound through the course, so I would imagine it gets pretty crowded during peak time.

Wide open course without many technical shots - poor tee signs and we got turned around in a couple areas due to poor direction

We were there in the morning, so there weren't any locals to follow around, but we found our way. They could use some more descriptive tee signs, but we were able to find our way just fine. Some of the holes are completely wide open, but that made it easy to find the errant shot and encouraged multiple throws on each hole.

Fun course without a lot of back and forth. There were a lot of longish ace runs to go after. But, they could really use better tee signs and more directional arrows to help with course flow. Throwing over the lake was a nice addition

Fun! More diverse/challenging course, elevation changes are fun (even my weak arm can get an occasional 300+ on these). Forces you to think about what disc/shape you are going to try and throw. (helps you learn your arm/discs) Several holes have plenty of room for error, some dont. good exercise walking up and down the hills.

signage needs a little help. (print the course map if you are a fist timer......even the map is not exact to current course lay out?) As a beginner, the ponds in valley are a disc magnet!

Its not the most beginner friendly course. You need to be able throw around 200ft (accurately) to keep par possible. That being said, my son got several pars yesterday using 175-200 ft tomahawks all day. Update: with more experience and courses under my belt. I would consider this course to be more challenging than most. I am starting to throw better and getting better distance but still have not shot par or under on this course. If you compare this course to ball golf, It plays more true to par. Not every week end warrior can shoot even par in ball golf...... And most never will. You are starting to play some frolf if you can shoot even par, or better, on the bad lands. (imo) This is my home course and the challenge never gets old.

-Plenty of obstacles and OB, including water, but not anything that is too severe as to make playing the course a chore
-Can be enjoyed by all skill levels, though begginers might have a challenge on their hands
-Park is clean and park-goers are very aware that there is a large, sprawling disc golf course on the grounds. They are also respectful and will let you throw before they walk through
-Plenty of trash cans and several bathrooms in the Camenisch complex...something that is often forgotten in disc golf course design!
-BADCO Disc Golf Club has weekly tags (I believe on Mondays) run by David Nunez, who absolutley rules this course and is a great guide

-NAVIGATION!!! I played a tourney here last weekend, and came up on Friday to play the traditional layout and the tourney layout of 22 holes. Even with maps of both layouts, my wife and I had a hard time and even threw to the wrong pin on two occasions
-Teepad signs could use a lot of work. BADCO works their butts off on this course, and I know tee signs are not cheap, but it deserves a mention
-Not in the best part of town, which leads to occasional unsavory charecters on the course, but not nearly as bad as it's surroundings would seem
-The pond is murky horribleness, so if you tank on in the drink, even if it's two feet offshore, consider it gone

I played this course 3 times this weekend (twice on Friday and once on Saturday for the tournament) and had a lot of fun. It's a very good course, just solid all the way around, with nothing too bad and nothing too memorable.

Even on Saturday, when we were playing in 6-8 inch deep snow with gnarly winds and constant snowfall, I had a good time. That say something about the course and how hard BADCO works to keep it up to snuff. Not a destination course, but if you're in the area, it's well worth a play...just don't skip Blair Witch!

-Lots of different pin positions
-Benches and picnic tables on most of the holes
-Water comes into on quite a few holes (there is a drainage ditch and pond that the course plays over)
-Good variety of distances on the holes

-Very hard to navigate (there are baskets everywhere and it is hard to know which one to throw to) There are no signs pointing to the next tee-pad, which makes it hard to find the next tee-pad as the course flow can be a little weird on some holes.
-There are some long walks between holes, which also adds to the hard navigation
-Lots of crossing fairways (keep an eye out for incoming discs).
-Gets very crowded and with the crossing fairways you sometimes have to wait on other groups playing another hole during your hole and run into conflicts with other groups playing.
-Other than a few holes, the course is mostly wide open with very few obstacles other than the water.
-The course gets repetitive very quickly (most of the shots are either uphill or downhill and there isn't much shot variety).
-There can be some tall grass and lots of water to lose discs on
-Terrible tee-signs (the ones that are still readable are very hard to understand and tell the layout of the hole from, but most are either missing or completely faded out and unreadable).
-Baskets are old and rusted
-Some holes can get really muddy even when its been dry.
-Other park users get in the way on some holes.
-Not in the best part of town
-Lots of trash around the park

Decent course that has a lot of good elevation change but the course is nothing special. This course gets very frustrating due to bad tee-signs, hard navigation, and crossing fairways. This course isn't well-designed for the amount of people that play it. If you're in the area give it a try but don't go out of your way.

This course is set up over a rolling valley. You basically start on one side, and work your way across going up and down the two sides. If your only playing the main 18, the course is mostly open and allows for great distance throwing. There are a few holes wrapped around a section of tight trees, but getting around them isnt too difficult. The tees here and the baskets are awesome. There are a few holes here to watch for water. Hole two can be tough on leftys if their disc comes back too hard. Theres a small pond that becomes its final resting place. Back toward hole 12 you are shooting all the way over a lake, so have your golden retriever ready!

The tee signs for the holes are way outdated and need some serious updates. Some holes dont even have signs. (this of course being a wishlist item i guess)

The practice area at the top of the course is fantastic with three baskets to fire at. Theres enough room to work in some shorter mid shots as well. Take some sun screen 4 sure as there will not be a ton of shade on the main 18 around the boxes.

Camenisch Park is a large sprawling urban park. The disc golf course plays from one end of this park to seemingly every corner. The course is definitely showing here age. Everything is a little bit beat down from the signs to the concrete pads to the baskets. Navigation is difficult at best. You really want to follow a local or play with someone who knows their way.

There are a few epic downhill throws starting with # 1 although I wouldn't have known which basket to aim for without the help of a local.

Navigation is very difficult. The signs are old and hard (impossible) to decipher with up to four basket positions per hole and no way to tell which position the basket is currently in.
There are ugly uphill climbs.

The Badlands course was probably the most challenging course I played on the whole I-25 corridor between the Cheyenne, Wyoming and Colorado Springs. The throw over the nasty pond on # 12 only adds to this challenge. Then when the locals veer off and play #'s 2-9 of the Blair Witch Project course, this adds another different challenge both physical and technical to your day here.

Lots of different challenges and obstacles. Uphill, downhill, over water, over/under trees, elevated basket on 14 or 15. Parts are heavily wooded, but most are open.

Poorly labeled. Almost impossible to navigate if its your first time playing the course. A couple baskets were removed on back nine.

I really liked this course. Its a huge course with many challenges. Takes a good 2+ hours start to finish. Much fun and highly recommended.

Well groomed park with long rolling hills. There is a great amount of elevation change for a city course. There are a great number of long holes and each hole has multiple pin placements that are changed on a semi regular basis. The ponds and creek are used well to add difficulty.

The sighs on the tee pads are difficult to read and often mark the wrong pin placement. Beware of the ponds they are putrid but there is a good chance you will be called if your disc takes a splash.

Make sure to play Blair Witch while you are on the course it is a must and can be started after hole 12.

Nice big open spaces to air it out. Lots of walking over mixed terrain. Up and down hills. Plenty of tight technical shots to test your skills.

If your not into puttin some miles on your arms and legs, this isnt the course for you. The water shots will definetly eat your discs. The tee signs are old and beat down and since it is such a big course, finding your way can be tough.

Overall i thought this course had it all! Tons of fun. Some super tough shots and some long straight gunners. I bet itll be awesome in the summer when everything is lush and green!

Tee pads are well placed and provide enough area for any type of form/stance. The distance to each hole is excellent ranging from very long uphill/downhill to very short straight away. Elevation changes from hole to hole is very challenging as the holes are actually farther than what you think and see. The flags on top of each pin is also helpful when the hole goes over a hill.

The only bad thing about this course is its map on each tee pad. Its very outdated and confusing as it show multiple pin placements. It doesn't really show where the ponds/water hazard are.

As a player from wisconsin/minnesota states, this course is challenging. Playing this course you will get to test your drive distance uphill/downhill and disc control to avoid the ponds especially on hole #2 and #11.

Great elevation changes, some decent use of features out on the main course that gets better if you venture into the Blair witch. Has three practice baskets at the top. Multiple pins placements make sure that it isn't the same old course.

Breading ground for mosquitos down in the valley that I have been told is fueled by sewage run off. Do not venture into the water to grab your disc. It is the nastiest water hazard I have ever come across. Despite the multiple pins placements, the signs on the tee pad are marked with the general direction of where they all are but never designated making the course confusing if you do not play it regularly.

The gentleman who supposedly keeps the maintenance of the course is always at the top selling discs and will supposedly call you if his "diver" finds yours. I have never recieved a call on one of mine nor have any of my friends making me suspect that this is not true. The course has great potential to be better, but is obviously hindered by the lack of community funding. If you do decide to play this course I would recommend playing the first 10 then going into the Blair Witch which is more technical but is harder to lose your discs without the water hazard and then skipping the last 8 holes. Always disappointed when I leave there but have a great time trying to thread the lines in the trees to the east of the main.

Great opportunities to grip it and rip it. There are 18 tees and 18 baskets.
Three practice baskets so you don't have to feel like your in other peoples way.
The grass is very green and beautiful. There are also great views of the Rockies.

Horrible layout. Felt like the designer was like "Ok, we're going to go straight downhill than straight back up and repeat this for most of the course."
The creek had a lot of potential, but there was not one creek hole that I felt was even worth a damn. Holes five and six felt like the tee was placed close to the creek and the basket placed at an arbitrary position through some trees.
Might be the worst marked course in the Denver area. The second tee is behind a knoll.
Never really enjoyed this course. I played three times and each time it seemed to get worse.

If you live less than 10 miles away than it's a decent course to go get a round in. I moved to the Denver area about two years ago from the ft-worth-Dallas area which has am abundant supply of great courses. While I love Denver and feel more at home here than I ever did in Texas the low number of good courses is disappointing.

Wow, this course has it all! Excellent use of elevation changes, technical shot selections, water, trees and is kept up well for a city park. Most holes are relatively short for those with big arms... I only threw driver twice during my round as my midrange discs are anywhere from 400 feet in...

For first timers, it was a bit bewildering determining which basket you need to throw to and where the next tee box and basket are, but after asking a few "locals" and following them, I was able to find my way through this course pretty easily.

CO has had a ton of rain this year which is a bit "unseasonable" from what I hear from the locals, so be prepared for a few "mushy and swampy" spots. Be sure to wear footwear that is waterproof if you're not wanting to walk around in wet socks.

It can be a bit of a challenge to find the next tee box. Most signs were damaged and unreadable, and I think 18 was missing. Challenging pin locations can be in play for 3 or 4 holes, but otherwise it's completely open. There is evidence of hobotown in the trees.

Great wide open downhill shots, to air it out!!! Would be an awesome park to just practice your long distance drives. No Monkeys

Awful awful awful signage in fact the 4th tee box has a 3 on it. Trash all over the place, we even picked up some of it because it was literally feet away from a recycling can. Some of the baskets we actually never found and played to the wrong ones, we eventually left early because we couldnt find the next basket.

Could be a better course with much improved signage and maybe even a better layout it seems to play down the hill and back up over and over again.

Like I said great park to practice your long drives.

Another thing, having played this course only hours ago and now looking at the pictures on this website I have no clue where some of those whole were, these pics must be years old

This was relatively challenging, if nothing else for the hole where you had to clear the lake! It was also pretty long, so players with long arms could definitely get active.

The course was pretty tough to navigate for a first-timer. The signage was junk and finding the next tee pad wasn't always very intuitive. Also, it was pretty dirty when I was there (lots of rusted out trash cans, turned over cans, etc.)

Overall is wasn't awful, but I certainly wouldn't make this my normal course.
