Buzz @ Luz

Reviewed: Played on:Sep 23, 2023 Played the course:2-4 times

Pros:

~Fun layout with most holes being shorter and more technical
~Easy to get to right off US-30
~Solid navigation with good hole signage and directional arrows

Cons:

~Plays close to the camp buildings, structures and roads in many areas
~Areas where adjacent holes are too close to one another
~Not all tees are currently concrete

Other Thoughts:

Played at the 2nd Buzz at Luz tournament which acts as a fundraiser for this Christian Camp. A wonderful first Autumn day provided great weather for this two round event. The park has that rustic charm with gravel paths and small buildings and sheds set throughout much of the course.

With this course only being a couple of years old, it's in good shape and you can tell it will continue to be approved upon. The front nine are all putter and midrange distances off the tee and offer a fair amount of technical gaps, lines, and angles to be used. The back nine plays a bit more open and longer so you can get by with a bag of putters, mids, and a couple drivers. It's a fun tract that offers nice variety and a very casual vibe.

Concrete tees have been installed on most of the holes, and the ones still waiting for them are stand and deliver distances so it's not a major issue. All holes have nice signs and navigation flows fairly well. A couple spots with longer than normal walks and a few areas where holes get too close to one another if the course were exceptionally busy.

This is a great camp course that will appeal to young and newer players along with more experienced throwers. It's right off US-30 and easy to get to for travelers looking to throw a fun 18. I bet this course continues to be improved upon over the years as well.

Campers Course

Reviewed: Played on:May 7, 2023 Played the course:once

Pros:

Scenic, pretty, quiet and only one other group playing

Cons:

Course is geared for beginners. Intermediate players should score under par. The longer holes on the back 9 are very basic throws with almost no trees. Would of been nice to incorporate the lake into the course.

Other Thoughts:

For beginners or someone looking for an easy round it's worth to play. Players with higher skills or looking for a bigger challenges shouldn't go to far out of there way to play.

Fun drive by

Reviewed: Played on:Mar 1, 2023 Played the course:5+ times

Pros:

Great course to practice your mid range game. Short holes with some difficult lines on the front. Longer, more open on the back 9. Updated with 13 concrete pads in November. If you want a bomber course, go to silver creek. Camp is beautiful and foot traffic is minimal. Hardly ever am waiting on any other players.

Other Thoughts:

The Udisc distances are not accurate. Many of the holes are a good 20 feet longer than what it says.

Easy, Relaxing, and Fun! 2+ years

Reviewed: Played on:Apr 2, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

Camp Luz is a beautiful retreat center east of Orrville that hosts summer camps, religious retreats, and more!

While the disc golf course is on the easier side, there's plenty of fun to be had across this sprawling Wayne County oasis.

+ While the property itself is private, the camp welcomes visitors from dawn until dusk outside of the summer camp season (June 1 - August 15). There were a handful of campers and staff on the property, and all were very friendly!

+ The design incorporates the given elevation changes and wooded areas to perfection. This course appeals to beginners, but more experienced players can still find some challenges with tough basket placements and different hole shapes.

+ Navigation is pretty easy, especially when aided with the UDisc app. There are arrows underneath every basket pointing the way to the next tee.

+ Favorite Holes: #3, #9, #11, and #17.

Cons:

- It looks like there are plans to install permanent tees at some point, but right now all tees are natural and marked by orange flags. The course seems to hold a lot of water, so some of the natural tees were in rough shape. Also in need of permanent tee signs.

- Experienced players won't find much of a challenge. The average hole length is 213.1 feet, with all being par 3.

- Some of the wooded holes could use additional clearing.

Other Thoughts:

With Camp Luz being the only course in Orrville and one of the only courses in Wayne County, disc golfers in the area will definitely appreciate the new track.

I would expect the course to only get better as time goes on!
