A good challenge for the Cougs!

Reviewed: Played on:Aug 20, 2022 Played the course:once

Pros:

-Excellent variety of holes suiting all skill levels
-Unlikely to ever be busy with other disc golfers
-Nice new yellow DISCatcher baskets
-Tee locations clearly marked with numbered wooden posts
-Tee 9 is up on a cool stack of railroad ties
-Restrooms at the stadium by hole 1

Cons:

-Only playable when school or sporting events are not happening
-No elevation change other than one raised tee pad
-The natural grass tee pads will wear out over time and get sloppy in the wet weather
-Long walk from hole 13 to hole 14

Other Thoughts:

What a great place for a disc golf course. I mean, it plays about 5 different landscapes in just 18 holes. You start by playing around the tracks and sports fields, then you move on to an open country field for some bomber shots, then go through an evergreen wooded area, then you hop over the gravel and play through an oak tree camp ground, and finally you finish off in a manicured grass park-like field. Very fun!

My initial thought was that this course is too hard for beginners, but I actually like that it's not just a typical, ace-run, school course. If a fine high-schooler gets hooked on the sport, they will be able to grow their skills and not get tired of disc golf over the course of their years at Cascade High.

I hope the baskets stay in good shape, but I fear that vandalism might be inevitable.

If there were some elevation change I would rate a 4.

If you are making the trip out to Turner, I suggest stopping by the elementary school to play 6 more baskets, or Aldersgate Camp for a fun round of 9.
